” I and My Father are one.” (John 10:30)

images-3Hello! How are you? How is your week going?  Are you enjoying the nicer weather?  Are you gearing up for summer since schools are mostly out and graduations and vacations are just beginning?  Do you have plans for Father’s Day? Will you be sharing it with your father or with a positive male role model-perhaps at a barbecue? Maybe you will be fishing? That also seems to be a popular thing to do on Father’s Day.  For those who have the opportunity to share a special day with your father, you are blessed and I hope you continue to make happy memories that you can pass down to your children.

Now, what about those of us who do not have fathers, or do not have a good relationship with their father? Then what?  Well, I am here to tell y9u that God is a Father to the fatherless. My father was not the best role model and then he died when I was a young teenager. We were not very close, but the loss was still made an impact.  It wasn’t until I was 23 yrs old when I met Jesus and found out that I now had a “heavenly Father” who accepted me and called me “daughter”. It was a little confusing at first to learn about God as my Father and what the Bible says about His love as a father.  As a matter of fact, there are many, many scripture references as God as our Father and what His expectations are from His children. It’s sort of amusing how tangible God makes Himself known to us.  Most of us were raised in a family and in that family there were expectations from the parents to their children. Makes sense doesn’t it? It also makes God so much more real than a far away “Godly Being”  As a Father, God is our ultimate protector and provider.

Many people are not sure how to approach God, so they respond to Him the way they do with their earthly father. That can be good…or bad.  If you had a great or loving relationship with your earthly father, then you probably approach God thinking that He loves you more than life itself.  However, if you had a poor relationship with your father; or if he abandoned you and your family, your opinion may be very distrusting of God.  You very possibly may not believe the promises God has for in His Word.  For example, His Word says“He will never leave you never will I forsake you.”  (Hebrews 13:5 ) Or, “The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3) God also understands about sacrifice for His own…”For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever would believe on Him would not perish but have everlasting life. (John3:16)

Whatever type of relationship you have or had with your earthly father, know that you have a Heavenly Father that is waiting with open arms to love you. However, the only way to meet your heavenly Father is through Jesus. “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.  If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.  And you know the way where I am going.” Thomas *said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, how do we know the way?” Jesus *said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me. (John 14:1-6)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I hope that you have a wonderful Father’s Day no matter what you do and know that you are not alone and that your Heavenly Father is just a prayer a way.

In His Love,

Melody

“But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord God and made Him my refuge, that I may tell of all Your works.” (Psalm 73:28)

Hello! How are you? I hope your New Year is progressing forward as you continue to trust God and  learn to depend soley on Him.  I don’t think it matters where you are on your walk with God, it is always good to draw near to Him-to seek God and find out His will for your daily life because things happen in life and sometimes we don’t know where we should go next.

When life’s distractions happen, we shift our focus off of God and on to our situation(s); which means our focus goes back on to ourselves. For example-Long Island just had their 2nd nor’easter a little over 2 weeks; January 3rd and yesterday, January 21st. Talk about distracting-at least it is for me! Think about all the preparation that comes with it and then the clean up that comes after it. I admit, I could not focus on much else and it stresses me out something crazy… and I know that God is in control and no matter what He will be there for me and take care of me-so why do I stress?

When distractions occur, we get “stuck” and do not move forward with God. Have you ever played scenarios over and over in your mind? The enemy of our soul (Satan) works constantly to take as many believers in Jesus away from God as possible on a continual basis. He does not relent from this task because he does not want us to work out our salvation with God and wants to keep us a part from God eternally.  The enemy wants  us to be confused and have self doubt; and he wants us to feel he condemned. However, we do not have to give in to his lies. God gave us instruction on how to handle these things when it comes our way. “[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) (2 Corinthians 10:5-Amplified)

Satan wants us to stay where we are so that we do not believe can come to God with any of concerns no matter how big or small. He even has his children that belong to him and he sends them to us to try to dissuade us away from with their subtle whispers of doubt. Why do we fall for the lies even for one moment? Satan is the father of lies! “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)  Why do we fall for it?  I’ll tell you why. It’s because we do not stay in constant fellowship with God.

Our commune with God is like every other relationship-the closeness is there because of the intimacy we create with one another. We need to be in God’s Word and in prayer for our communication with Him.  But, when we become distracted, we  lose focus and hence we become a little desensitized from the Holy Spirit (which lives inside those who accepted Jesus as LORD and Savior) and if we are not careful, we can begin to drift away. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4: 1-10)

People always want the blessings of God without the responsibility that comes with this relationship.   Selfish? I think so! [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, I want you to know that no matter what happens in our distractions, we can come back to God. But when we return, we need to ask forgiveness because we have walked away from Him. However, He is our refuge once we put our trust in Him and then we are safe from whatever the world tries to throw at us. Remember, the devil is a liar and he loses the battle against Jesus.

“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” (Revelation 12:7-12)

“Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle. (Proverbs 23:4-5)

image009Hello! How has everyone been? Can you believe we turned the clocks back and it is November already?  Hurricane Sandy was just over a year ago and yet, many people are still feeling the devastation. So many things have occurred in this last year and it has affected the United States greatly as a nation.  Unfortunately, people often “feel” that effect in their wallets.

I personally believe that GOD is allowing our economic situation to get our attention because nothing else is doing it. It seems to be that when one has money-one is very self-sufficient; and therefore, does not see (nor want) God in or as part of their lives. The ironic part is that if it wasn’t for God, they would not have money. That’s right, God is in control of finances and it all belongs to Him. “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1) When we struggle to meet our needs, God is not mad at us or punishing us. He is trying to get our dependency off ourselves and our eyes on to Him. “I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth”. (Psalm 121:1-2) God always proves to be our sufficiency in all things; whatever the reason-whatever the season. To earn money, or to have money, it is a privilege-and with privilege comes responsibility. How we handle our money is a reflection of where our heart is. It is shows us what we value. “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)  Just because someone doesn’t spend their money, but holds on to it, also shows their heart attitude towards money. “There is a severe evil which I have seen under the sunRiches kept for their owner to his hurt.” (Ecclesiastes 5: 13) Jesus gave a powerful parable regarding this: “Jesus replied, Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you? Then he said to them,“Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”and he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops. Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.”’But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself? (Luke 12:14-20)

The antidote to this behavior is for one to honor God first with their money; and, to be generous towards others.
“Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; So your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.”( Proverbs 3:9-10) “Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you”  (Deuteronomy 16:17) “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.”  (Proverbs 22:9) “The righteous gives and does not hold back.” (Proverbs 21:26) God has blessed us with the ability to work and to earn money-one reason is because He knows this is a vital necessity in our lives so we can be a “free people” and now slaves to others; and two, He gave us money so we can bless others and provide for their needs (not wants).  This kind of blessing is given legitimately to a church, or through a ministry or organization. Sometimes God will bless us with finances just so we can bless others because of their needs.  One time I was in need to get my car fixed and it was going to cost $500.00. I was very upset as I did not have the money to fix my car so I was depressed. Then within a short amount of time, I brought in my mail and there was (5) 100 dollar bills with a note that Jesus loves me and wanted to bless me so I could get my car fixed. The note was anonymous and I had the money to fix my car.  God had put it on the heart of someone to give me the money instead of using it for themselves.  “But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.”  (Matthew 6:3-4)

I am sharing with you the topics that are on my heart at this time because the times we are in are getting a little darker, not just physically, but spiritually and the one truth there is to cling to is through Jesus Christ.  Obamacare may not work, but Jesus will hear my prayers and heal my body.  He is the only true source we will ever need for our lives. I encourage to watch your spending and start paying down any debt you may have and save for y0ur future.  The Bible says “the rich rules over the poor, and the borrower becomes the lender’s slave” (Proverbs 22:7) That’s why it also says “Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have. (Hebrews 13:5) “But if your eyes are unhealthy, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” (Matthew 6: 23-25)

As you continue on y0ur journey in this place we call life, I encourage you work on becoming debt free so you do not have to owe anyone anything and by doing so, you will get to see the awesomeness of God as He provides for your needs and even gives you those secrets wants that nobody knows about.  He is our provider and His love and truth is our sufficiency. Here i another scripture as you walk Every Day With Grace  “But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.? (1Timothy 6:6-10)

“The LORD has looked down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek after God,” (Psalm14:2)

Do you remember the song “Looking for love in all the wrong places?” That song was such a hit because so many people were able to relate to it. I will take some liberty here and say that I can remember when I was looking for God in all the wrong places.

First, let me start off by saying that I was not raised in any form of religion.  Technically, the background I was born into is 3/4 Jewish and maybe 1/4 Catholic. I probably would have been considered an agnostic. I believed God existed and that was as far as it went. My only “religious” upbringing was watching “The Ten Commandments” by Cecil B. DeMille. I cannot even tell you how shocked I was when I read the story in the Bible for the first time. I was so confused!  That is what happens when we view Godly things from the TV instead of picking up a Bible and reading it ourselves. Anyway, I digress.

I believe most people are looking for God because they are seeking truth in this crazy world we live in. When I started my “search”,  I didn’t realize I was seeking God’s truth.  I thought I was evolving as a person. Let’s see… I went to psychics, astrologers, dream interpreters, I did metal bending and who knows what else.  I had (2) very different close friends at this time.  One, took me to all of the activities I just mentioned and the other was a born-again Christian. I would go to psychics by day and would watch televangelist, Jimmy Swaggort on Sunday nights. (Oh no, my age is showing!)  It seemed that searching for truth was pulling me and my soul in two extreme directions-almost like a tug of war in what I was going to believe in.  I was hearing two very different opinions. One day as my friend and I were driving home after seeing an alleged world renowned psychic, I asked God (2) things: 1) if He was real; and 2) who was telling me the truth?  The friend taking me to visit psychics or, the one watching the televangelist?  I asked God to reveal Himself to me in a personal, private way and He did.  That’s when I was introduced to God the Father, God the Son, and  God the Holy Spirit. I will tell you one very important fact I learned from seeking truth-whether we realize it or not, God is in control of everything in this life. I take comfort knowing that God cares so much for me that He is always looking out for me. His word says so.

There is a scripture that says “Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found of you declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 29;12-14)  I finally knew that I was actually seeking God’s truth because His truth is the only one that matters and His truth does not change with the times. His word also says “I love those who love Me; and those who seek Me will find Me.”(Proverbs 8:17)  So many people think that God is unattainable-when in reality He is looking down from heaven to see who is looking for Him so He can extend His hand to them so they can receive a loving, everlasting relationship.

It is important to realize that God and Jesus are one. In scripture when Jesus was asked who He was, He  answered, “i am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John14:6)  Therefore, the next time you may think God is too far off in the galaxy to hear you, you can “Seek the LORD while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6). God is always near and always answers when one calls upon His name.

In His Love,
