“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will show forth (recount and tell aloud) all Your marvelous works and wonderful deeds.” (Psalm 9:1 Amplified Bible)”

Hello! How are you? Getting ready for Thanksgiving? Will you be breaking out the usual traditional recipes? Will you be trying new ones? I just tried a new one for stuffing-it was just ok. I will not be using towards my meal.  Anyway, are you still able to focus on the important things for the holidays even though people start making themselves crazy…which in turn makes those around them  crazy? Has your focus become food any company driven? Is your upcoming Thanksgiving about being thankful or, is it completely stressful?

As a believer in Jesus, I truly appreciate Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, this holiday gets passed 0ver too quickly. It doesn’t get the acknowledgment it deserves. I guess for many people it starts the Christmas shopping rush extravaganza. Media has put the pressure on for shopping-not the holiday. Thanksgiving is a celebration of freedom and being thankful for all things bestowed on us from God. It should really have on reflect on their life and thank God for His provision. Believe me, I am certainly not naive to the hardships that are out there. Some are definitely worse than others.  But, believe it or not, God has a purpose for that in your life. “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

If you say “what do I have to be thankful for this year (or, at all)?” Start really thinking about your life.  Believe me, not everything is ideal all the time, but if you truly search your heart and look at your life, I bet you can up with at least (1) thing to be thankful for. God promises to provide our needs and many times He uses others to meet those needs. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19) He can do it supernaturally He chooses to. I remember a time I needed $500.00 to get my care fixed and I received (5) one hundred dollars bills in the mail-anonymously. God provided and I was able to get my car fix and I was able to share with others at my job the next day regarding the wonder of God and how He provided for me just when I needed it.

God is so good-especially when I know I don’t deserve His love or Mercy. Truth be told, according to scripture, the only thing I really deserve is hell and death-because the sinful nature I was born with would keep me separated from God because He is a Holy God. However, because of my acceptance of His Son, Jesus, into my heart and life, I no longer am separated from God. Jesus bridged the gap between God and me and for that I am forever grateful. “I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus”. (1 Corinthians 1:4)

As you Walk Every Day With Grace this Thanksgiving, it is my hope and prayer that you realize how blesses you are and give God (and maybe someone in your life) thanks. To be thankful is a choice. One can stay bitter and ungrateful-that is a choice as well. However the Bible says to choose life. Maybe you cannot give thanks for everything, but, I’m sure you can at least give God thanks for the breath you have and that you have lived to see another day because He lives in you.

In honor of Thanksgiving, I would like to give you the lyrics of the song “Give Thanks”, by Don Moen

Give Thanks

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks to the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”

And now let the weak say, “I am strong”
Let the poor say, “I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us”
Give thanks

We give thanks to You oh Lord
We give thanks

In His Love,

Melody

“O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and loving-kindness endure forever!” (Psalm 107:1)

imagesHello! How are you? Can you believe that Thanksgiving  is (2) weeks away? I say it all the time-where does the time go? I think this holiday gets passed 0ver way too easily. For many people it’s about family, football, parades and lots of food. Oh, and Black Friday and the beginning of the mad rush to shop for Christmas.

Do you think people actually stop and evaluate their lives and give thanks for their lives; or, one another and more importantly…to God? Think about it. You woke up this morning-because God allowed it. Aren’t you thankful for that? “A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” (Job 14:5)  When the holidays come upon us, we get caught up in the hustle and the bustle and the drama of everything and when that happens…we lose our peace. We lose our peace with God and we lose our peace within ourselves and each other. We forget our gratitude towards God; for everything He has done for us and for everything He has provided to us. He has given us our abilities, our strength, our vision and purpose; and because of that we MUST give Him thanks. For no other reason than He deserves at least that from His creation. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. “(James 1:17 )

One of the reasons I like Thanksgiving is because it really does make one take a look at their lives. Unfortunately, it is easier to see the negative things in life, so it may take a little more effort to really examine the blessings one may actually have in one’s life.  But, when you do take that look, you can honestly say that life is not that bad. I remember hearing someone who was a Holocaust surviver say “every day above ground is a good day!” It puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?  Many people think they don’t have much to be thankful because we sometimes compare it to those who have more and have what we want.  We rarely compare it to those who are less fortunate and say “Thank you, God!” Some of us have been less fortunate and can appreciate an increase of God’s bounty of goodness; still, there others who cannot appreciate or, handle their blessings of increase because the focus is on self. One may think like King Nebachanezar and think “look what MY hands have built. (or increased). There’s no humility with that type of thinking.  There is no gratitude towards God.   Yet, in spite of all of that, God is still good and still  loves us and patiently waits for us to say “Thank You, Lord for loving me and providing what l need. You may not have given me everything I may want, but you are always faithful to provide for my needs!”  “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”                (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

As we enter into our Thanksgiving season, it is my prayer that you take a look at your life and start thanking God for your life and everything He has done for you. I know some things are not easy. But I do know that God has a purpose and a plan for your life and the circumstances  that surround your life. “I will praise you, Lord, Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation;I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:1-2)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, start with just one thing to be thankful for and see how your thankfulness will become a way of life for you.

In His Love,

Melody

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” (Philippians 4:6)

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

imagesHello! How are you? How has your week been?  It’s been a long, crazy, tiring week for me. Can anyone else relate to that? The “funny” thing about life is “when it rains, it pour”. (pardon the cliche) So, what is my point? This is my point…even though life gets tough and exhausting, one should not forget to bring praise to God. “Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.”               (1 Chronicles 29:13)

What do I mean by that? How can I praise God when I seem to be so consumed with what’s going on in my trial? When one is going    through a trial, their eyes and thoughts are about themselves as well as how their current situation is effecting them. They just look for ways to carry their burden without bringing God into their situation. Many of people are strong in themselves…but, that strength in self  eventually wears thin which is why people become so worn out. It is only through our relationship with God that gives us strength to continue on.“The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare Him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” (Exodus 15:2)

I think we offer God a sacrifice of praise because naturally, we like to praise ourselves (and sometimes someone else). A sacrifice is an offering that we bring to God. In the Old Testament God required specific sacrifices for various reasons and occasions. God, in His own right is a King. That’s why Jesus is called the KING of KINGS, it is due to His Majestic being and because of that we praise Him. “And my tongue shall speak of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long.” (Psalms 35:28) “IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH” (Psalm 92:1)

God desires our praise in music as well. That’s why we sing to Him in church. We worship Him in praise and song and He loves it. “Hear, O you kings; give ear, O you princes; I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.” (Judges 5:3) “I will praise you with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to you.” (Psalms 138:1 ) “Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy: yes, on the harp will I praise you, O God my God.” (Psalms 43:4) Our praises to God should be an expression of our love for Him and filled with thankfulness for all that He has done for us. We should thank Him just because of His sovereignty and for who He is as our God, our Father, and as our Husband. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful to him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4) “He is your praise, and he is your God, that has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.” (Deuteronomy 10:21)

It is obviously easier to praise God when you have a relationship with Him. “Therefore I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to your name.”  (2 Samuel 22:50)  “I will give you thanks in the great congregation: I will praise you among much people.” (Psalms 35:18) “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

We should always remember to praise God in all of our trials because nothing is by happenstance. It is because of God’s loving, merciful nature that we should praise Him. He is everything to us. He is our Salvation. He is our Healer. He is Wisdom. He is Redeemer. “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14) “I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we desired of you: for you have now made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:23) “And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation” (Daniel 4:34) He is our all and all and though we may not “feel” like praising Him, it is our responsibility to offer  Him our sacrifice of praise. I’m not saying it is always easy for us to do, but it our duty as believers to give to God what is rightfully due Him for all that He does for us because He loves us. “I will sing of mercy and judgment: to you, O LORD, will I sing.” (Psalm 101:1) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I encourage you to bring your sacrifice of praise to God. Praise Him because you love him, praise Him for His love for you, or just praise Him because you know your life would actually be empty without Him and because of Him, your life can be filled with joy.

In His Love,

Melody

We Bring The Sacrifice Of Praise: Writer/Composer : Kirk Dearman

We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.

And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.

“In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1Thessalonians 5:18)

Hello! How is everyone? I hope all is well. Sorry, I didn’t write last week, I had technical difficulties.  Moving on… Can you believe that Thanksgiving is this Thursday?  Do you realize that there are so many things to be thankful for?  Will you remember to count your blessings?  Can you even recognize your blessings?  If you are able to read this, then thank God you are alive (and that you can read)!

We are to have an attitude of thanksgiving all year round-not just one day a year.  It is so easy to complain about our lives and our circumstances, but for those who are true believers in Christ, we are to purpose to be thankful-in all things. Here is an example from  my own life. I have been praying for a change within my company and I recently applied for two different positions.  My friend, Amy and I pray every week for various things, including these job opportunities for me. We will always pray  for God’s will in our lives and that He would make it very clear as to His direction regarding our prayer requests. When I was thinking and praying for a scripture for this week’s blog, the above scripture kept going around in my head.  Well, today, I found out that God “closed the door” on the two job opportunities I was praying for.  So, what was my immediate reaction? To give thanks to God-for this was His will concerning me.  Was I bummed out? Yes! Disappointed? Yes! But then, I had to take a breath and realize that God has His best interest for my life, therefore, it is His will for me.

I know that being thankful or thanking God is not easy.  It isn’t natural either. “I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the LORD.” (Psalm116:7)   It is because of God’s love for us that we are able to thank Him. “Praise the LORD. Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 106:1) It is because God brought salvation to all of us through His Son, Jesus that we are able to be thankful for our very lives. Once we receive Jesus into our lives, He forgives our sins and gives us the promise of eternal life! How does one say thank you to a gift of such eternal value? “You will say in that day: I will give thanks to you, O LORD, for though you were angry with me, your anger turned away, that you might comfort me.” (Isaiah 12:1)  We are truly victorious in Jesus Christ and it is only because of  who He is. “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)

It is my prayer that you are able to be thankful at this juncture of your life.  I understand about the hard times.  Right now I don’t know many people who aren’t experiencing various hard times or loss (myself included).  There was much loss in my own life this year.  Even still, I submit to the Sovereign will God has for me even though I have no specific “map” for  my journey at this time. I trust in Him and am thankful that He is my Savior, God, and friend. “Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is yours. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom; you are exalted as head over all. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all. Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name.” (I1 Chronicles 29:11-13)

My prayer for you this thanksgiving season is that you see God in all things and that every good and precious gift is from Him.  Have a Happy, Healthy and Blessed Thanksgiving and in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you. “And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”  (Colossians 3:17)

I would like to leave the following scripture for you to think upon as you continue to walk Every Day, With Grace:

Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that he Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. (Psalm 100)

In His Love,

Melody

“Sing to the Lord with thanksgiving; Sing praises on the harp to our God…” (Psalm 147:7)

Hell0! How is everyone? How was your week?  Mine definitely had some bumps in the road; but, such is life.  Movin’ on….Did you ever realize that singing and/or music can change one’s temperament?  Have you ever heard the expression “music calms the savage beast”?  It’s hard to stay angry when one is singing. I’m not talking about singing the blues, love songs, or show tunes or anything like that. That type of singing just makes one focus on self. I’m talking about singing to the Lord.

You might be thinking “say what?” Did you know that God loves music? It’s funny that people don’t realize that God INVENTED music. He invented EVERYTHING. It’s a musical expression of our love for God about His love for those He loves. Have you ever sang to your sweetheart? Spouse? Children? As a believer in God (who is Christ, Jesus), it is the very same thing.  The songs we sing to God is filled with thanking Him for who He is and what He has done for us It’s humbling ourselves before our Maker and realizing that everything comes from His hand and that without Him, we are nothing. If you are reading this, that means you woke up this morning, so sing to the Lord that you are alive and thank Him.

Music and singing to God brings the sweetness of God closer to us. “But now bring me a musician.” Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.” (2 Kings 3:15) There are many scriptures that reference music, singing, and worship to God. “Then David and all Israel played music before God with all their might, with singing, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on cymbals, and with trumpets.” (1 Chronicles 13:8) Sometimes, just singing to God and letting His presence fill your soul is the all one needs to feel His closeness.

For those who don’t know what I mean, here are some songs that have been around many, many years:

Majesty“,by Marantha! Music

Majesty worship His Majesty
Unto Jesus, be all glory,
Power and praise
Majesty, Kingdom authority
Flow from His throne,
Unto his own, His anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high
The Name of Jesus
Magnify, come glorify,
Christ Jesus the King
Majesty, worship His Majesty
Jesus who died, now glorified,
King of all Kings.

And…

“To Be Like Jesus” (Hymm)

To be like Jesus
To be like Jesus
That’s All I ask-is to be like Him
All through life’s journey
From earth to glory
That’s all I ask- is to be like Him.

And…

“There’s Just Something About that Name.” by Bill and Gloria Gaither.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
There’s just something about that name
Master, Savior, Jesus
Like the fragrance after the rain
Jesus, Jesus, Jesus
Let all heaven and earth proclaim
Kings and kingdoms shall all pass away
But there’s something about that name.

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I would like to encourage you to sing to the Lord for all the good things that are in your life. I would also like to leave you with some lyrics that many people are familiar with:

Amazing Grace” by John Newton

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost, but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear,
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed.

In His Love,

Melody
