“Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

slide1-n Hello! How are you? I hope all is well as we are sprinting into summer. This weekend we are celebrating Memorial Day-which means we, celebrate those who fought for the freedoms many of us take for granted.

It is a privilege to live in the United States-that’s why many people still immigrate to this land to take advantage of, or engage in the voice and freedoms of America.  Our History is young in comparison to other countries, but look at what was accomplished.  Our country has had its share of war and bloodshed and God has seen it every bit of it and we are to honor those who chose to lay down their lives for their country and fellow man. “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13). “Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor.” (Romans 13:7).“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18).

God is very aware of who His creation is and who belongs to Him as His children. Death grieves His heart when any of His creation passes away, but, He is there to receive those who belong to Him. “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His godly ones.” (Psalm 116:15). However, there are those who purposely did not chose God for their life. “The memory of the righteous is blessed, but the name of the wicked will rot.” (Proverbs 10:7).

As believers, we are to have the same loyalty, devotion and steadfastness as a soldier. God views His own as children and soldiers because our lives are always in a spiritual battle and we need to know for whom we are fighting-and more importantly, knowing who are enemy is. “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”(1 Peter 5:8). “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13). That is why the scriptures says for us to: “Take [with me] your share of the hardships and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him.” (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

I thank God that His mercies are new every morning and I am so grateful for the men, women, fathers, mothers, brothers and sister who chose to serve and protect their lives on for me and my country.  I’m thankful for our police as well as our soldiers. That is why they are continually in my prayers.

As you walk Every Day With Grace, please pray for your military and say thank you when you see a  soldier. You remain free because they are here to protect us from various enemies.

I do want to say THANK YOU to all of our Military Personnel. I salute you and have so much appreciation for your dedication.

I like to leave you with

“THE BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC”
Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.

Refrain:
Glory, glory, hallelujah! Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah! His truth is marching on.
I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on. (Refrain …)

I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
“As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal”;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on. (Refrain …)

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on. (Refrain …)

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free;
While God is marching on. (Refrain …)

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of Time His slave,
Our God is marching on. (Refrain …)

Footnote:
One of the major poetic products of the American Civil War, the Battle Hymn of the Republic was written by Unitarian laywoman Julia Ward Howe to supply a more uplifting set of lyrics for the stirring tune of “John Brown’s body” which she had heard Union soldiers singing as they marched southward. It was first published in February, 1862, issue of The Atlantic Monthly, though the version printed there lacks the refrain as well as the sixth verse.

Battle Hymn of the Republic is the common title of the text, and commonly used also as a tune name. The original title was The Battle Hymn of the Republic. (1819-1910)

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:11-12)

images-1Hello! How are you? It’ s Labor Day weekend! How crazy is that? Time is flying by. Even though time seems to be moving quickly, it also appears as other things in our lives are standing still-making it appear that we are sleeping or wasting our time on frivolous matters when we know better.

As one grows with the LORD, one should always continue in the application of His principles and apply it to their life. That is where commitment and discipline come into play. Unfortunately, people confuse “good intentions” with commitment. I wrote myself a Proverb years ago that says “Good intentions do not always bring about good results.” What do I mean? I mean, “what good are intentions without actions?” Now, there are some who are “well-intentioned” meaning they wanted to do something nice or good for another but never quite got around to it. I think that’s why the saying “well, it the thought that counts” is used with this type of implication.

In any event, with each passing day we are getting closer and closer to Jesus’ return. For those who do believe, our salvation is here and it draws closer and closer to eternity with God. For those who do not believe yet, but are inquiring and thinking they still “have time” really need to re-think what they are searching and hoping for. Some peopled have the attitude that they can always repent and call on the name of Jesus “tomorrow”; or keep doing everything they want to do because they believe they can repent once they are old or had their fun. But, scripture says “Today is the day of salvation.  “For God says,“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

We are not promised tomorrow and we do not know when we will be meeting our Savior. For those who are His, He will welcome you with open arms and enter into your rest. God the Father will see His Son, Jesus when He sees you. For those who are NOT His-first you will bow before Him and acknowledge Him as King of Kings and LORD of LORDS; and then He will say “depart from Me, I never knew you! “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)  “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire(M) prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (Matthew 25:34-46)

Can you imagine that? Eternal separation from God. There is no second chance on the other side of the grave-no matter what religion may say. That is a lie. Redemption is only on this side of the grave. Only on this side will one get chance after chance to repent from sin up until your last breath.; after that, you will be face to face with God …who will either be your Advocate or your Judge. “Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5: 9-10)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, my encouragement to you is for you to realize that salvation is here and now and that we are to walk in the precious gift of our Salvation . This means we are to come out of our slumber of complacency and daily live according to God’s word and embrace our new life in Jesus.

In His Love,

Melody

“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. (Isaiah 55:1-3)

IMG_0482 Hello! How is everyone? Just when we thought we were free and clear from the snowstorms, boom… another one is hitting the Northeast tomorrow night (Sunday)! Seriously, we are all done with this weather! Spring is (3) weeks away-and it cant come soon enough!  As you already know with the rising temperature everything is so expensive and it seems that the colder it gets, prices like food and gas & oil haves gone up in a very short amount of time.

It seems like there is a price for everything and certainly there is no such thing as a free lunch.  However, the only thing that does not cost money is God’s invitation for eternal life. That’s why I choose the above scripture. The invitation to come is not really meant for temporal things. God’s invitation has eternal value. He invites those without money to come and accept something so precious that He does not put a price on it, but, gives it away freely to those who will accept it. “As for me, I shall call upon God, And the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me. God will hear and answer them—Even the one who sits enthroned from of old— Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.” (Psalm 55:17-19)  Can you understand that the only act of participation we are to have is to trust God because there nothing we can physically, emotionally, or monetarily do?  One cannot earn or buy their eternal life. See how God extends His continual invitation to us? “Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7) “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

Isn’t God so amazing? He doesn’t care what we look like, what we wear, what drive, how much is or is not in bank accounts-all He cares about is sharing eternity with us, but the only way to do it is if we accept His invitation to salvation. Why would we want to pass this up when God is the only who loves us unconditionally? “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. TheLord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel…” (Psalm 103:1-8) “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)

God has a plan for your life! Where you are does not matter, what matters is whether or not you satisfy that longing in your spirit that says ” I believe there is a God, but, why would He want me when I have nothing to give Him?” For those who may feel that way, this what God has to say to you…For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;  It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, and it will be a memorial to the Lord, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off.” (Isaiah 55:8-13)

Please know “for all have sinned  and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26)

As you walk Every Day With Grace know that if you are hungering in your spirit, soul, and body for God, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6) “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.” (1Peter 5;6)

In His Love,
