“Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts.” (Hebrews 4:7)

Hello. How are you? How are you doing? I hope all is well as you are taking care of all things in your lives. It is (7) weeks to Christmas and (3) weeks or so to Thanksgiving. Time seems to be moving more quickly since we are approaching the end of the year. It seems like the hustling and bustling of everything starts getting louder and louder and so distracting that one cannot listen to their own thoughts-let alone the voice of God when He is speaking to you.

Why is it is that we say we want to hear from God, but we don’t listen? Why do we make it so complicated to listen to God when He calls out to us? We really don’t have to go far. It’s not like we have to climb a mountain, sit in cloth and enter into a deep meditation in order to get close to God. God is all around us and makes Himself very attainable for us for us to communicate with Him if we choose. Truly, the problem is that we do not make time to listen to Him. Why? Because we are mostly busy about doing things for self-some good, some bad at times (none of us are perfect). We become more self-centered than God centered. We get caught up in our family, friends, jobs, school, grocery shopping, doctor appointments, TV, etc… We try to be everything to everyone and it just creates more clamor inside our head! That’s why we don’t hear God when He call us by our name .(He obviously knows our name). We are too busy doing “stuff” and any form of interruption of our plans makes us angry. So, what do we do? We tune Him out like any other distraction-sometimes completely.

Whether we can admit this or not, we want God on our terms because that’s how we live our lives-everything is on our terms not somebody else’s. Believe it or not, God is a gentleman. He does not force Himself or His will into our lives. We have free will and we will live with the rewards…and the consequences because WE make the decisions and; therefore, cannot blame anyone else for our choices. God is a God a love. But, He is also Just rather than fair. When He sees how crazy and stressed out we can be He may call out to us. Sometimes, He may call us Friend, Lovely, or, His Bride. Unfortunately, as in any relationship, we have the choice to accept or reject love-even God’s love. That’s we He says “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.” God’s mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:23) Every new day can bring change and possibilities-if we do not harden our hearts and keep God out of it.

God is a Holy God and He is our Creator (Elohim). We were made in His image-not the other way around. Can you imagine how it must heart the heart of God when we choose not to have any communication with Him? Can you imagine children (who are the image of their parents) refuse to have any form of fellowship or relationship with them? I can’t imagine the pain or the heart break! Sadly, I am also guilty of behaving like this with God. There’s been many a day (to my shame) when I have chosen not to listen to God because of my mood or my bad choices. The sad part is there were times I chose to live with the guilt of my behavior until I go to God and ask for forgiveness and to start over (repent). He sees everything and knows everything and He says that when we ask His forgiveness, it is thrown into the see of forgetfulness and that is as far as the East is from the West. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:11-12)

The best and most direct way to hear God’s voice is through His Word-which is the Bible. Every topic can be found in there-anywhere and everywhere beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelation. “For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.” (Isaiah 64:4) Reading the Scriptures reveals the character of who God really is. It is how He directly communicates with those who are His and for those who are looking for Him. By reading God’s Word, it helps us make the correct choices for our lives. You need to realize that God is so infinite to our way of understanding. It’s like taking the ocean and pouring it in to a glass. His direction can sometimes be the exact opposite of how we “feel” we should go. That is where our faith comes into play also. God knows us better than we know ourselves; and like any good parent He may say no in one area so that we may grow or move in another. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:19-20)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I invite you to listen and hear God’s voice when He reaches out to you. Don’t harden your hearts and turn away from Him-rather open yourself up to Him and be willing to hear what He has to say to you personally. He love us enough to Bless us as well as chastise us. Please do not miss any opportunity or direction God may have for you. You may be pleasantly surprised at the depth of His love for you. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? Then I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (Isaiah 6:8)

‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.” (Deuteronomy 32:39)

thHello. How are you? Are you enjoying the changing of the seasons. Are you getting ready for time change at the end of the month?  That’s when we lose one hour and “fall back” an hour. Anyway, I love the autumn and the change of seasons. I think it gives one an opportunity to slow down and reflect what is going on in one’s life and to see what changes occurred and what changes are needed to be implemented (if possible).

One  of the things I ponder is: why are we so resistant to heed warnings from God (and man)?  Why do we resist change? Why do we think we know better? Why must we struggle within ourselves so unnecessarily? Why are we unable to let go of our own control and trust God-even though a change could only benefit us?  Am I the only one who struggles with these questions? I don’t think so. Whether we like it or not, God is in control of our lives-as it states in the above scripture. There is only one God and other. (Right there should settle every question when people ask if God is real and if there are any other gods.) It clearly states that God is the One that kills and makes alive. He is the One who allows our wounds (physical and emotional); and He is the One who makes alive and no one can take His own from His hand. That, my friend is the Sovereignty of God. All things are ordained by Him and are through Him because He is God. Even the Eboli virus that entered the United States. He allowed that to happen. So what do we do? How do we respond when we are weak and/or scared? Do you think God even hears us?

How we should respond to God during these times?  We need to cry out to God…”O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.” (Psalm 30:2) “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”  (Proverbs 3:7-8) “Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” (Psalms 6:2) “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)  “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”(Jeremiah 17:14 NKJV) (Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV) “For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.”‘ (Jeremiah 30:17)

We need to listen to God: “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.  (Psalms 107:20)  “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) “And he said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26) “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

We need obey God and take responsibility for our actions“Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.” (Hosea 6:1) “Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.” “Indeed we do come to You, For You are the LORD our God” (Jeremiah 3:22) Who else can we turn to?  “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:14-16) We need to understand that we need to faith in God in our relationship with God. The strength of our faith is our profession of who we are to God and who He is to us. “Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8: 47-48) “Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8:13)

How do we know what God says is true?  How does He respond to us? “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14) “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.” (Hosea 14:4) ‘Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6) “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” (Matthew 9:35)

How do we know Jesus understands what we go through? “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)  “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”  “(Healing of the lame man at the Gate Beautiful)  “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, “by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Act 4:29-31)

There is so much more I can add to this, but, I think you get the picture. We have a Sovereign God who loves us and is in control of all things?  So why should we fret so much? As you walk Every Day With Grace, take comfort in knowing that God through Jesus has us in the palm of His hand and there is nothing that can take us from it. Know you are loved and can always have peace in Jesus whatever circumstance you come across. He is our peace. He is our Healer. He is our God and He is the Lover of our souls.

“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. (Isaiah 55:1-3)

IMG_0482 Hello! How is everyone? Just when we thought we were free and clear from the snowstorms, boom… another one is hitting the Northeast tomorrow night (Sunday)! Seriously, we are all done with this weather! Spring is (3) weeks away-and it cant come soon enough!  As you already know with the rising temperature everything is so expensive and it seems that the colder it gets, prices like food and gas & oil haves gone up in a very short amount of time.

It seems like there is a price for everything and certainly there is no such thing as a free lunch.  However, the only thing that does not cost money is God’s invitation for eternal life. That’s why I choose the above scripture. The invitation to come is not really meant for temporal things. God’s invitation has eternal value. He invites those without money to come and accept something so precious that He does not put a price on it, but, gives it away freely to those who will accept it. “As for me, I shall call upon God, And the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me. God will hear and answer them—Even the one who sits enthroned from of old— Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.” (Psalm 55:17-19)  Can you understand that the only act of participation we are to have is to trust God because there nothing we can physically, emotionally, or monetarily do?  One cannot earn or buy their eternal life. See how God extends His continual invitation to us? “Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7) “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

Isn’t God so amazing? He doesn’t care what we look like, what we wear, what drive, how much is or is not in bank accounts-all He cares about is sharing eternity with us, but the only way to do it is if we accept His invitation to salvation. Why would we want to pass this up when God is the only who loves us unconditionally? “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. TheLord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel…” (Psalm 103:1-8) “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)

God has a plan for your life! Where you are does not matter, what matters is whether or not you satisfy that longing in your spirit that says ” I believe there is a God, but, why would He want me when I have nothing to give Him?” For those who may feel that way, this what God has to say to you…For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;  It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, and it will be a memorial to the Lord, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off.” (Isaiah 55:8-13)

Please know “for all have sinned  and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26)

As you walk Every Day With Grace know that if you are hungering in your spirit, soul, and body for God, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6) “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.” (1Peter 5;6)
