“Then Samuel said, Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as He does in obedience? Certainly, obedience is better than sacrifice, paying attention is better than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)

Hello! How are you? I know my life is crazy busy…would you agree that yours is as well? It’s almost the end of October….time is marching on and life has a way of happening when you are in the middle of making other plans. The key is how one responds to life’s changes-especially since God is the one who is either making the changes; or allowing them to occur. “and do not turn aside from any of the words which I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. “ (Deuteronomy 28:14)

You may ask, what does she mean about that? I will tell you. First, I want you to know that God is a Sovereign Ruler. In layman’s terms, that means He is in charge and nothing sneaks passed Him without Him knowing or His say so. But, we think He has no idea about what is happening to us, or, how circumstances affect us. We get so caught up in the drama that we lose sight of WHO our God is and WHAT He can do when we are in crisis-and even when we are not in crisis. The issue is what happens next. We take our eyes off Jesus and put the focus on our own self and our situations and we “go through the motions” of our alleged faith. I say “alleged” because we are not always living true faith that can be seen by others. Oh, we may act pious or religious, but, that’s what I mean by going “through the motions”. We can react mechanically because of the knowledge we possess, but the heart may have grown cold and turned from God during this time. “Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you,“ (Jeremiah 26:13)

Make no mistake…God sees and hears everything; and He sees what is actually within our own heart (disbelief, selfishness, religion, etc…) He will reveal to us what is in our heart because He is merciful and loves us and He will give us the opportunity to confess our sins to Him and repent (turn from) them so as to restore our relationship with Him. “However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says “LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:16-17)

God does not want our sacrifice of our time and money to “a cause” or, a church;, or a charity just because it seems like the right or good thing to do. It’s easy to write a check or to participate in something once, twice, or even monthly. But who are you doing it for? God? Or, self? God wants our heart attitude to be submissive to Him and His Word. He wants us to obey His will and applyit  to our own lives what the Bible says. He does’nt want us to be mindless robots without a soul or a brain, He just wants what is best for us as any loving Father (or mother) would want for their children.  We need to change our minds and focus on Him completely. We need to get our mind soley off of ourselves when all we have to offer this world is nothing but selfish ambition.  “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.“ (2 Corinthians 10:15).

God, through His Son, Jesus, understands the struggle we endure because He endured every form of struggle and temptation straight to the Cross at Calvery.  To paraphrase one of Michael Card’s verses “it was His love that kept Him hanging on the cross.”  God gave us a way to live and those that are His to behave like Him.  What I mean by “His” are those Born Again Believers that received Jesus Christ, the Messiah into their hearts and follow after Him. These are ones He calls His children. [Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel] But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living. For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy. “ (1 Peter 1:14-16)

Our lives should emulate God’s Holiness. We will struggle. We will fall down on our face (sometimes in shame or fear) and the enemy of our souls will continually whisper discouragement in your ears, but, we can continue on because the Spirit of Jesus lives inside of us and His mercies are new every day!. Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).” (Phillippians 2:12-Amplified)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, know that struggles are guarenteed in this life, but indiffernce and religion are spiritual killers because we lose focus of God.  A small cost of obedience to God is worth so much more than all the wealth in this world. He owns everything and everything is His-so what does He really need? I think this song by Keith Green sums it up perfectly.  The song is convicting and liberating.  I hope you really think about the words and then take a good look at your life and the commitment you say have with God.

In His Love,

TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE-by Keith Green

To obey is better than sacrifice

I don’t need your money, I want your life
And I hear you say that I’m coming back soon
But you act like I’ll never return

Well you speak of grace and my love so sweet
How you thrive on milk but reject my meat
And I can’t help weeping at how it will be
If you keep on ignoring my words
Well you pray to prosper and succeed
But your flesh is something I just can’t feed

To obey is better than sacrifice
I want more than Sundays and Wednesday nights
‘Cause if you can’t come to me everyday
Then don’t bother coming at all

To obey is better than sacrifice
I want hearts of fire, not your prayers of ice
And I’m coming quickly to give back to you
According to what you have done
According to what you have done
According to what you have done

‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.” (Deuteronomy 32:39)

thHello. How are you? Are you enjoying the changing of the seasons. Are you getting ready for time change at the end of the month?  That’s when we lose one hour and “fall back” an hour. Anyway, I love the autumn and the change of seasons. I think it gives one an opportunity to slow down and reflect what is going on in one’s life and to see what changes occurred and what changes are needed to be implemented (if possible).

One  of the things I ponder is: why are we so resistant to heed warnings from God (and man)?  Why do we resist change? Why do we think we know better? Why must we struggle within ourselves so unnecessarily? Why are we unable to let go of our own control and trust God-even though a change could only benefit us?  Am I the only one who struggles with these questions? I don’t think so. Whether we like it or not, God is in control of our lives-as it states in the above scripture. There is only one God and other. (Right there should settle every question when people ask if God is real and if there are any other gods.) It clearly states that God is the One that kills and makes alive. He is the One who allows our wounds (physical and emotional); and He is the One who makes alive and no one can take His own from His hand. That, my friend is the Sovereignty of God. All things are ordained by Him and are through Him because He is God. Even the Eboli virus that entered the United States. He allowed that to happen. So what do we do? How do we respond when we are weak and/or scared? Do you think God even hears us?

How we should respond to God during these times?  We need to cry out to God…”O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.” (Psalm 30:2) “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”  (Proverbs 3:7-8) “Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” (Psalms 6:2) “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)  “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”(Jeremiah 17:14 NKJV) (Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV) “For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.”‘ (Jeremiah 30:17)

We need to listen to God: “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.  (Psalms 107:20)  “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) “And he said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26) “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

We need obey God and take responsibility for our actions“Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.” (Hosea 6:1) “Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.” “Indeed we do come to You, For You are the LORD our God” (Jeremiah 3:22) Who else can we turn to?  “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:14-16) We need to understand that we need to faith in God in our relationship with God. The strength of our faith is our profession of who we are to God and who He is to us. “Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8: 47-48) “Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8:13)

How do we know what God says is true?  How does He respond to us? “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14) “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.” (Hosea 14:4) ‘Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6) “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” (Matthew 9:35)

How do we know Jesus understands what we go through? “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)  “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”  “(Healing of the lame man at the Gate Beautiful)  “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, “by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Act 4:29-31)

There is so much more I can add to this, but, I think you get the picture. We have a Sovereign God who loves us and is in control of all things?  So why should we fret so much? As you walk Every Day With Grace, take comfort in knowing that God through Jesus has us in the palm of His hand and there is nothing that can take us from it. Know you are loved and can always have peace in Jesus whatever circumstance you come across. He is our peace. He is our Healer. He is our God and He is the Lover of our souls.

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:11-12)

images-1Hello! How are you? It’ s Labor Day weekend! How crazy is that? Time is flying by. Even though time seems to be moving quickly, it also appears as other things in our lives are standing still-making it appear that we are sleeping or wasting our time on frivolous matters when we know better.

As one grows with the LORD, one should always continue in the application of His principles and apply it to their life. That is where commitment and discipline come into play. Unfortunately, people confuse “good intentions” with commitment. I wrote myself a Proverb years ago that says “Good intentions do not always bring about good results.” What do I mean? I mean, “what good are intentions without actions?” Now, there are some who are “well-intentioned” meaning they wanted to do something nice or good for another but never quite got around to it. I think that’s why the saying “well, it the thought that counts” is used with this type of implication.

In any event, with each passing day we are getting closer and closer to Jesus’ return. For those who do believe, our salvation is here and it draws closer and closer to eternity with God. For those who do not believe yet, but are inquiring and thinking they still “have time” really need to re-think what they are searching and hoping for. Some peopled have the attitude that they can always repent and call on the name of Jesus “tomorrow”; or keep doing everything they want to do because they believe they can repent once they are old or had their fun. But, scripture says “Today is the day of salvation.  “For God says,“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

We are not promised tomorrow and we do not know when we will be meeting our Savior. For those who are His, He will welcome you with open arms and enter into your rest. God the Father will see His Son, Jesus when He sees you. For those who are NOT His-first you will bow before Him and acknowledge Him as King of Kings and LORD of LORDS; and then He will say “depart from Me, I never knew you! “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)  “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire(M) prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (Matthew 25:34-46)

Can you imagine that? Eternal separation from God. There is no second chance on the other side of the grave-no matter what religion may say. That is a lie. Redemption is only on this side of the grave. Only on this side will one get chance after chance to repent from sin up until your last breath.; after that, you will be face to face with God …who will either be your Advocate or your Judge. “Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5: 9-10)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, my encouragement to you is for you to realize that salvation is here and now and that we are to walk in the precious gift of our Salvation . This means we are to come out of our slumber of complacency and daily live according to God’s word and embrace our new life in Jesus.

In His Love,

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

imagesHello! How are you? How has your week been?  It’s been a long, crazy, tiring week for me. Can anyone else relate to that? The “funny” thing about life is “when it rains, it pour”. (pardon the cliche) So, what is my point? This is my point…even though life gets tough and exhausting, one should not forget to bring praise to God. “Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.”               (1 Chronicles 29:13)

What do I mean by that? How can I praise God when I seem to be so consumed with what’s going on in my trial? When one is going    through a trial, their eyes and thoughts are about themselves as well as how their current situation is effecting them. They just look for ways to carry their burden without bringing God into their situation. Many of people are strong in themselves…but, that strength in self  eventually wears thin which is why people become so worn out. It is only through our relationship with God that gives us strength to continue on.“The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare Him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” (Exodus 15:2)

I think we offer God a sacrifice of praise because naturally, we like to praise ourselves (and sometimes someone else). A sacrifice is an offering that we bring to God. In the Old Testament God required specific sacrifices for various reasons and occasions. God, in His own right is a King. That’s why Jesus is called the KING of KINGS, it is due to His Majestic being and because of that we praise Him. “And my tongue shall speak of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long.” (Psalms 35:28) “IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH” (Psalm 92:1)

God desires our praise in music as well. That’s why we sing to Him in church. We worship Him in praise and song and He loves it. “Hear, O you kings; give ear, O you princes; I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.” (Judges 5:3) “I will praise you with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to you.” (Psalms 138:1 ) “Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy: yes, on the harp will I praise you, O God my God.” (Psalms 43:4) Our praises to God should be an expression of our love for Him and filled with thankfulness for all that He has done for us. We should thank Him just because of His sovereignty and for who He is as our God, our Father, and as our Husband. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful to him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4) “He is your praise, and he is your God, that has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.” (Deuteronomy 10:21)

It is obviously easier to praise God when you have a relationship with Him. “Therefore I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to your name.”  (2 Samuel 22:50)  “I will give you thanks in the great congregation: I will praise you among much people.” (Psalms 35:18) “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

We should always remember to praise God in all of our trials because nothing is by happenstance. It is because of God’s loving, merciful nature that we should praise Him. He is everything to us. He is our Salvation. He is our Healer. He is Wisdom. He is Redeemer. “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14) “I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we desired of you: for you have now made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:23) “And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation” (Daniel 4:34) He is our all and all and though we may not “feel” like praising Him, it is our responsibility to offer  Him our sacrifice of praise. I’m not saying it is always easy for us to do, but it our duty as believers to give to God what is rightfully due Him for all that He does for us because He loves us. “I will sing of mercy and judgment: to you, O LORD, will I sing.” (Psalm 101:1) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I encourage you to bring your sacrifice of praise to God. Praise Him because you love him, praise Him for His love for you, or just praise Him because you know your life would actually be empty without Him and because of Him, your life can be filled with joy.

In His Love,

“Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.” (Revelation 5:12)
“Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and might, be to our God for ever and ever. Amen.” (Revelation 7:12)

We Bring The Sacrifice Of Praise: Writer/Composer : Kirk Dearman

We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.

And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.

“As He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying,“Tell us, when will these things happen, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?” And Jesus answered and said to them, “See to it that no one misleads you. For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will mislead many. You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs.” (Matthew 24

IMG_0867 Hello!  How have you been? It is almost August! Where is the time going? It seemed like yesterday when I was complaining about the snow and now summer is half over! The hours may seem to drag; but, the days are flying for sure! Does it seem like the world is going crazy or what? The turmoil in the world is just getting out of hand! If one is a believer in God, how can they not think about the end times; and if one is NOT a believer, what could they possibly be thinking about the world that we live in? “But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people. (2 Timothy 3:1-5)

I notice there seems to be more and more commercials for apocalyptic movies. Some of them are really frightening. I don’t want to name them because I don’t want to promote them.  Are people thinking about the inevitable? Or, is it just all about fear and money?  That’s why one needs to know where they stand with God-not in 1, 5, 10, 50 years from now, but right now. We are not guaranteed tomorrow. When we wake in the morning, I assure you, that is God’s gift to you because His mercies are new every morning. I understand what it’s like to wake  up and think “I just cannot take another day like this!”  But, I also understand what the alternative is also…death. “As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”  (2 Corinthians 6:1-2) God is very gracious to His own children and creation-and He doesn’t have to be because He is God, Almighty and He does not OWE us anything.  The attitude of entitlement is nothing more than laziness and ungratefulness and is completely against the Word of God. Actually we, humans truly deserve hell and death-and that is because of our sinful, un-repented nature because sin separates us from God. And since God dwells in heaven I know He doesn’t need to visit Hell.  Hell was not meant for mankind. Hell was created for the devil and His fallen angels. However, since so much of the human race has renounced God and Jesus, that is where they will spend all eternity.  We do not know what tomorrow may bring, but, eventually we will all meet our Maker. “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him. (Hebrews 9:27-28)  “Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness. In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use.  Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work. Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels.  And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful. Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.” (2 Timothy 19-26)

You  need to understand that God is a Holy God and sin cannot be in His presence. That’s why Jesus died for all of mankind-so that He could bridge the gap between God and man. When we become Born Again, the spirit of God enters our body, soul and spirit. Prior to that ,we are just body and soul. Flesh and emotions without a built in moral compass. I am not saying there are not “good” people out there. As a matter of fact many are good or appear “good” in a human point of view. However, that does make them godly because they do good things.  (sheep and goats/ rich young ruler) As my very good friend Amy always says, ” There are goods things we  ca do and there are godly things we can do.” At one in society, I can understand why this would be similar.  However the “good” standard has changed in today’s world, but the godly standard has not, “For I am the Lord, I do not change; therefore you, O sons of Jacob, [l]are not consumed. (Malachi 3:6)

The moral compass has changed greatly in the United States; and it is a reflection of the sign of the times. (Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who [a]substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who [b]substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!)  (Isaiah 5:20) (2 Timothy  This could be the reason why people are concerned listening to the news and thinking about where they might be in eternity.  “The truth is this: hey replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved–you and your household.” (Acts 16;310)

As you Walk Every Day with Grace, I want you to know that God’s promises are waiting for you to embrace and it will not cost you one cent. Salvation is a free gift Why worry about tomorrow and all of it’s turmoil when you can have the peace and assurance of eternity through Jesus Christ today? God loves you and is waiting for you to become a member of His family. The end of the age is coming.  Why wait for the closing act  to arrive when you already know how it will end? Mankind cannot change the mind of God. He has written it down for us as a stern warning for those who will not believe and as a loving exhortation to those who do. ”

The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” (Revelation 22:17)

“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: May they prosper who love you. May peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For the sake of my brothers and my friends, I will now say, May peace be within you. For the sake of the house of the Lord our God, I will seek your good.” (Psalm 122:6-9)

Hello! How are you? How have you been? I missed writing last week after being away for a few days and then time just seemed to have slipped away because of all the “catch up” one does upon their return.

In any event, I have been listening to the news and everything that is happening in the Middle East and it saddens me. It is so unfortunate there is so much turmoil there. For that matter, there is so much brutality here in the United States. Many people believe in a “god”. However, they truly need to submit to God, Himself, who is Jesus Christ. The very nature of mankind is sinful. “Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. “ (Psalm 51:5) If nobody has told you about your human nature, I’m sorry to inform you of that but truth is what it is. This is not my opinion…this is what the Word of God says so if you have any disputes, you need to take it up with Him directly.
God is Holy and God has always made Himself and His ways available to His creation. (I say creation because mankind is God’s creation; but, not all of mankind are His children.) “So man will be brought low and mankind humbled, the eyes of the arrogant humbled. But the LORD Almighty will be exalted by His justice, and the holy God by His righteousness.” (Isaiah 5:15-16)
As a matter of fact, He has always has warned His people regarding their sinful behavior and He continues to do so today. God (and His ways) do not change. “For I the Lord do not change; therefore you, O children of Jacob, are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6) “Woe to those who draw sin along cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes, to those who say Let God hurry, let him hasten his work so we may see it. Let it approach, let the plan of the Holy One of Israel come, so we may know it. Woe, to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and clever in their own sight.” (Isaiah 5:18-20)

There are no excuses regarding any acts of violence. However, I do believe in defending oneself and more often than not, defense comes with an extreme price. As Americans, we have changed our outlook and opinion of right and wrong, defense and justice ever since our government removed the Ten Commandments from public view. People seem to have had more of a conscience when reminded that not only God had set up His standard, they were accountable to them as well and that was understood and not up for debate.  Now, people seem to not even take a stand for God’s point of view because the “popular opinion” is to be neutral and to observe tolerance to those who do not have “traditional” views. Amazingly, the same respect is not reciprocated and expected. I completely understand Israel’s decision to protect their own people and land and NOT tolerate any actions of war or terrorism against them. They will let everyone know that they are a peaceful people, but when threatened-will defend itself. They also believe and acknowledge that their land is from God and their forefathers when they were brought out of Egypt.  They take their position as God’s Chosen People seriously and cherish their inheritance from God. God gave the people of Israel a land that was once desolate and now it is prosperous and filled with life.  That could only exist with the help of God. What the world does not realize either is that when Jesus comes to redeem His people, He will return to Jerusalem on the Mount of Olives. God has a purpose and a plan for Israel.  He also has a purpose and a plan for those who have been engrafted into His Covenant through His Son, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ha-mashiach). As believers, we need to keep our eyes on Israel and support because of the Biblical promises God has given to her and to us.  God will deal with His rebellious children of Israel who have not recognized Him as the Messiah in due time and that is His business. Until then, I will love and support Israel knowing that it the homeland of my Savior. “Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, So the Lord surrounds His people From this time forth and forever.” Those who trust in, lean on, and confidently hope in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved but abides and stands fast forever. As the mountains are round about Jerusalem, so the Lord is round about His people from this time forth and forever.” (Psalm 125 Amplified)

There is so much to say about this topic, but I just can’t do it all it one  blog. So, as you walk Every Day With Grace, pray for the peace of Jerusalem and think about where Jesus Himself comes from and read your Bible for yourself to see what God says.  I don’t expect you to take my word for it.

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;vI gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place. Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, and I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, and people for your life. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your descendants from the east, and gather you from the west; I will say to the north, ‘Give them up! and to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth—Everyone who is called by My name, Whom I have created for My glory; I have formed him, yes, I have made him. Bring out the blind people who have eyes, and the deaf who have ears. Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled. Who among them can declare this, and show us former things? Let them bring out their witnesses, that they may be justified; Or let them hear and say, “It is truth. “You are My witnesses,” says the Lord, and My servant whom I have chosen, That you may know and believe Me, And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior. I have declared and saved, I have proclaimed, and there was no foreign god among you; Therefore you are My witnesses,” says the Lord, “that I am God. Indeed before the day was, I am He; and there is no one who can deliver out of My hand.I work, and who will reverse it?” Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, The Holy One of Israel: For your sake I will send to Babylon, And bring them all down as fugitives—The Chaldeans, who rejoice in their ships. I am the Lord, your Holy One, Creator of Israel, your King.”Thus says the Lord, who makes a way in the sea And a path through the mighty waters, Who brings forth the chariot and horse, The army and the power (They shall lie down together, they shall not rise; They are extinguished, they are quenched like a wick):  “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert. The beast of the field will honor Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I give waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen. This people I have formed for Myself; They shall declare My praise. (Isaiah 43:1-21)

“Owe no one anything except to love one another….” (Romans 13:8)

image001Hello! How is everyone? How are you enjoying this warm weather? Are you able to go out and soak up all that Vitamin D from the sun? I love the fresh air and being in the sun (a little)…I just can’t lay out in it for too long when it’s very hot-it drives me crazy.  🙁  The nice thing about going outside in the sun is that it shouldn’t cost you anything. Yet somehow we wind up spending money. Why? Because we all want (or maybe love) money!  What is the verse to the Beatles song “Money”…”the best things in life are free, but, you can keep them for the birds and bees. Now give me money (that’s what I want)”

The problem is we always want what we see! It doesn’t matter what it is or if we need it…we just want it! Of course there are some logical and self-controlled people out there who would rationalize and count the cost for an item; but, unfortunately… many do not. “Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete it? For if you lay the foundation and are not able to finish it, everyone who sees it will ridicule you, saying, This person began to build and wasn’t able to finish.” (Luke 14:28-30)  I am guilty of that.  How many times have I said to myself “I gotta have it-(then don’t use it). Or, justify myself by saying “If I get this now, then I don’t have to (fill in the blanks) later. Better yet…I can’t afford it all now, so I’ll buy it on “flex pay”!  Does this sound familiar to anyone?  Can anyone relate?  The problem is we cannot pay for something outright, then we OWE that person/company, etc… What does that mean? It means that become a servant to the lender. “The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender.” (Proverbs 22:7)

It’s almost humorous how we willingly get ourselves indebted to another with our eyes wide open and not even try to avoid it.  This is a little something that God says about this matter:”Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. (Romans 8:6-8) So you see, the only true allowable thing we can owe is love towards one another.

One of the keys for having this loving attitude is contentment.  As human beings we have to realize that our lives do in fact have limitations. And we have to realize the void we may feel cannot be filled with “stuff” of any kind.  To be sure we cannot take anything we accumulate with us.  No one has ever seen a U-haul at the back of a hearse.  “[And it is, indeed, a source of immense profit, for] godliness accompanied with contentment (that contentment which is a sense of [a]inward sufficiency) is great and abundant gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and obviously we cannot take anything out of the world; But if we have food and clothing, with these we shall be content (satisfied). But those who crave to be rich fall into temptation and a snare and into many foolish (useless, godless) and hurtful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction and miserable perishing. For the love of money is a root of all evils; it is through this craving that some have been led astray and have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves through with many acute [mental] pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee from all these things; aim at and pursue righteousness (right standing with God and true goodness), godliness (which is the loving fear of God and being Christlike), faith, love, steadfastness (patience), and gentleness of heart.” (1Timothy 6:6-11)

We need to accept the grace of God in all of our circumstances because we were all bought with a price (Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own, You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Amplified)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, I ask that you join me in our journey to “owe no man anything except to love one another.

In His Love,

Melody
