Hello! How are you? I hope all is well since I have last spoken with you. Life has way of continuing on no matter what goes on in one’s life.  What’s the saying? “Life happens while you’re making plans”. Many people in many countries make plans but do not necessarily have the freedom to carry out their plans or wishes because they simply are not allowed.

Tomorrow is July 4th-our Independence Day in the United States. American citizens  will celebrate and honor their freedoms by attending barbecues, parades, togetherness with family, friends and, by the end of the day-fireworks.  The Declaration of Independence was written specifically for the CITIZENS of the  United States…not for the “guests” that stay in our country.  The men who wrote the Declaration were all God fearing, God honoring men. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

These men held the Bible, and its’ principles as the highest Authority to govern a nation and the future of that nation.  These men prayed separately and corporately as they sought the counsel of God to write our Declaration of Independence.  “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.” (Declaration of Independence, July 4, 1776). images

These visionary men knew that this nation could not survive without God governing it. So I will keep Your law continually, forever and ever. And I will walk at liberty, for I seek Your precepts” (Psalm 119:44-45).  As long as the Unites States continue to acknowledge their Creator in their lives, laws and government, it will be a Blessed and Free Nation under God. So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free”. (John 8:31-32) One might say “what truth?” The truth that because of God and His Son Jesus, we have freedom-in various ways in our lives and in this country. These truths are also the promise of God to His children and to His Creation; and He cannot deny Himself. For such is the will of God that by doing right you may silence the ignorance of foolish men. Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bonds laves of God” (1 Peter 2:15-16).So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). The freedom God offers us exceeds the physical and crosses directly into the spiritual. “But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life” (Romans 6:17-18, 22).
“For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God” (Romans 8:19-21).

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, I wish you a sobering reflection into our Country’s history and that you will see God in your celebration of our Freedom.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:4)

comfortHello! How are you? How is life moving along for you? Are you enjoying the springtime? I can’t believe it’s near the end of April. Time marches on-as expected.

I was thinking about the comfort that God gives to us freely. Sometimes I truly cannot comprehend the depth of God’s comfort towards His children and creation. When it comes to one’s mourning, it is very personal. “Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy. (Proverbs 14:10)

God provides His comfort through His Word, through some very good friends, family and in spending time with Him.  I chose this picture because I love the thought of Jesus carrying a child and holding them tightly and closely to Himself. I also like how the child is surrendered and peaceful as she rests in the arms of Jesus. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 )  Since Jesus is our ultimate Father, it wouldn’t matter how old His children are to show them how much He would love them enough to carry and comfort them.

One’s mourning probably runs deep throughout their body and soul; so people tend to withdraw and deal with or come to terms of their own emotions.  The truth of the matter is that one must hold on to hope and the knowledge that their sorrow will lesson in time. “ Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.” (Psalm 30:5 ) We are not exempt from hardship or sorrow on this side of the grave. However, when we place our hope and lives in Jesus, He really does gives us inner peace that surpasses understanding. “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) The promise God has for us is that one day when we leave this life and we go to be with Him, “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4) God cares for us so much that He even collects our tears and saves them. That’s how special we are to Him.“You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book.” (Psalm 56:8)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, it is my hope that you find comfort in Jesus whether you just met Him for the first time, or if you have an ongoing relationship with Him since you were a child-Jesus will never leave you. You many feel lonely at times, but, you are not alone. “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” (John 14:18) Even in sorrow, God has a purpose for it in our lives-even when that seems impossible…and for some-unbearable. But God always has a plan for the issues in our lives.

Hello. How are you? How have you been? Are you glad the snow has finally stopped and spring is on its way?  I know I am. I’m looking forward to everything that spring has to offer with new beginnings.

Tomorrow is Easter and will be celebrated in many cultures. For those who are believers, we like to call it Resurrection Sunday because Jesus was resurrected on the third day of His death as prophecy (and He) had foretold after He was nailed to a cross so He would take away the sins of mankind,

Jesus does not want mankind to die in its sin and go to hell.  Some people think they could do whatever they want because they think “when you’re dead, you’re dead.” Not so; there is an afterlife and everyone will meet their Creator- or as some say…their maker. When one does not know Christ, though they live (physically) they are dead in their sins and this will cause eternal separation from God without asking Jesus for the forgiveness of their sins. For those who do believe and have asked Jesus to forgive their sins while on this side of the grave, though they die, they will live eternally with God and Jesus forever.

My blog will be very short today. I wish you all a Blessed Resurrection Sunday and hope that you meet Jesus on this side while you still can ask for the forgivenss and have eternity to sit with your King of Kings and dine at His table.  It’s just a matter of confession and faith. Do you believe God loves you and wants to spend eternity with you? Or, do you think you want to take a chance because you think you can outsmart God?

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, know that the past is gone and we are not promised tomorrow.  But, we do have right now…the present to choose life.  “Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”(John 11:25-27)

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

Isaiah43v19.jpg.w560h396Hello! How are you? Can you believe it is New Year’s Eve already? I don’t know where 2014 went! It seems the older one becomes, the faster the clock turns.

The good news is that with the New Year one has the opportunity to do new things-which means New Beginnings.  I know many people make new resolutions for their new year. I now prefer to look at my new year as looking at new opportunities. Believe me, I wasn’t always like this. If anything, I tend to over-think and over analyze everything. So, what do you think God wanted me to learn?  “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalm 90:12)

As my friend Amy reminded me-reflection isn’t a bad thing, but, we need to be aware the about the amount of time we spend on the things that have passed and can no longer be changed. “In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9) It can be very self-absorbing-which means self focused rather than God focused. The truth of the matter is that we walk through seasons within our lives. “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

As you Walk Every Day with Grace, know that God has everything new waiting for you should you want His will for your life. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)  “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.” (Ezekiel 36:26-28)

Know that with God comes newness of life but, we need to commune with Him and we do that through prayer…which is basically talking to God. “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,…” (1 Chronicles 16:11-12) “And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.” (Mark 11:25-26). Also realize that in order to move forward, we can not keep looking at one was-whether it is past glories, or past regrets.  We need to have continual progression forward. “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

I wish all of you a Happy, Healthy, Blessed New Year in Jesus! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

 

“For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

i9-baby Hello! How are you? Can you believe Christmas is here already? I’m sure many people will be celebrating with friends and family; and many will be attending church whether it’s an evening service, Midnight service on Christmas Eve; or an early service on Christmas morning-maybe for the very first time hearing about the birth of the One and Only Savior, Jesus Christ. Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. And coming in, he said to her, “Greetings, favored one! The Lord is with you.” But she was very perplexed at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this was. The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.” (Luke 1:26-31) “The angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy Child shall be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35)

Some people may not realize that our Creator chose to humble Himself to be born (by a virgin) as a baby so that He can identify what His creation would experience in this world. This means He went through a literal, physical birth. His mother conceived Him by the Holy Spirit and his earthly father, (not natural father), Joseph was hand-picked by God Himself. His supernatural birth was foretold as well as His Resurrection Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man and not wanting to disgrace her, planned to send her away secretly. But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for the Child who has been eonceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Now all this took place to fulfill what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and shall bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.” (Matthew 1:18-23)

As you celebrate the Miracle of Christmas, I hope you begin to understand that it is because of the birth of Jesus we have reconciliation with God. He bridged the gap so we can commune with God because God is with us. He is the one and only true authority over mankind and He is the only God who can guarantee eternal life-therefore, rejoice! For our Savior has come to save the whole world.

Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

imagesHello! How are you? Can you believe that Thanksgiving  is (2) weeks away? I say it all the time-where does the time go? I think this holiday gets passed 0ver way too easily. For many people it’s about family, football, parades and lots of food. Oh, and Black Friday and the beginning of the mad rush to shop for Christmas.

Do you think people actually stop and evaluate their lives and give thanks for their lives; or, one another and more importantly…to God? Think about it. You woke up this morning-because God allowed it. Aren’t you thankful for that? “A person’s days are determined; you have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” (Job 14:5)  When the holidays come upon us, we get caught up in the hustle and the bustle and the drama of everything and when that happens…we lose our peace. We lose our peace with God and we lose our peace within ourselves and each other. We forget our gratitude towards God; for everything He has done for us and for everything He has provided to us. He has given us our abilities, our strength, our vision and purpose; and because of that we MUST give Him thanks. For no other reason than He deserves at least that from His creation. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. “(James 1:17 )

 One of the reasons I like Thanksgiving is because it really does make one take a look at their lives. Unfortunately, it is easier to see the negative things in life, so it may take a little more effort to really examine the blessings one may actually have in one’s life.  But, when you do take that look, you can honestly say that life is not that bad. I remember hearing someone who was a Holocaust surviver say “every day above ground is a good day!” It puts things in perspective, doesn’t it?  Many people think they don’t have much to be thankful because we sometimes compare it to those who have more and have what we want.  We rarely compare it to those who are less fortunate and say “Thank you, God!” Some of us have been less fortunate and can appreciate an increase of God’s bounty of goodness; still, there others who cannot appreciate or, handle their blessings of increase because the focus is on self. One may think like King Nebachanezar and think “look what MY hands have built. (or increased). There’s no humility with that type of thinking.  There is no gratitude towards God.   Yet, in spite of all of that, God is still good and still  loves us and patiently waits for us to say “Thank You, Lord for loving me and providing what l need. You may not have given me everything I may want, but you are always faithful to provide for my needs!”  “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”                (1 Thessalonians 5:18) 

As we enter into our Thanksgiving season, it is my prayer that you take a look at your life and start thanking God for your life and everything He has done for you. I know some things are not easy. But I do know that God has a purpose and a plan for your life and the circumstances  that surround your life. “I will praise you, Lord, Although you were angry with me, your anger has turned away and you have comforted me. Surely God is my salvation;I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” (Isaiah 12:1-2)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, start with just one thing to be thankful for and see how your thankfulness will become a way of life for you.

Hello. How are you? How are you doing? I hope all is well as you are taking care of all things in your lives. It is (7) weeks to Christmas and (3) weeks or so to Thanksgiving. Time seems to be moving more quickly since we are approaching the end of the year. It seems like the hustling and bustling of everything starts getting louder and louder and so distracting that one cannot listen to their own thoughts-let alone the voice of God when He is speaking to you.

Why is it is that we say we want to hear from God, but we don’t listen? Why do we make it so complicated to listen to God when He calls out to us? We really don’t have to go far. It’s not like we have to climb a mountain, sit in cloth and enter into a deep meditation in order to get close to God. God is all around us and makes Himself very attainable for us for us to communicate with Him if we choose. Truly, the problem is that we do not make time to listen to Him. Why? Because we are mostly busy about doing things for self-some good, some bad at times (none of us are perfect). We become more self-centered than God centered. We get caught up in our family, friends, jobs, school, grocery shopping, doctor appointments, TV, etc… We try to be everything to everyone and it just creates more clamor inside our head! That’s why we don’t hear God when He call us by our name .(He obviously knows our name). We are too busy doing “stuff” and any form of interruption of our plans makes us angry. So, what do we do? We tune Him out like any other distraction-sometimes completely.

Whether we can admit this or not, we want God on our terms because that’s how we live our lives-everything is on our terms not somebody else’s. Believe it or not, God is a gentleman. He does not force Himself or His will into our lives. We have free will and we will live with the rewards…and the consequences because WE make the decisions and; therefore, cannot blame anyone else for our choices. God is a God a love. But, He is also Just rather than fair. When He sees how crazy and stressed out we can be He may call out to us. Sometimes, He may call us Friend, Lovely, or, His Bride. Unfortunately, as in any relationship, we have the choice to accept or reject love-even God’s love. That’s we He says “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your heart.” God’s mercies are new every morning. (Lamentations 3:23) Every new day can bring change and possibilities-if we do not harden our hearts and keep God out of it.

God is a Holy God and He is our Creator (Elohim). We were made in His image-not the other way around. Can you imagine how it must heart the heart of God when we choose not to have any communication with Him? Can you imagine children (who are the image of their parents) refuse to have any form of fellowship or relationship with them? I can’t imagine the pain or the heart break! Sadly, I am also guilty of behaving like this with God. There’s been many a day (to my shame) when I have chosen not to listen to God because of my mood or my bad choices. The sad part is there were times I chose to live with the guilt of my behavior until I go to God and ask for forgiveness and to start over (repent). He sees everything and knows everything and He says that when we ask His forgiveness, it is thrown into the see of forgetfulness and that is as far as the East is from the West. “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:11-12)

The best and most direct way to hear God’s voice is through His Word-which is the Bible. Every topic can be found in there-anywhere and everywhere beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelation. “For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him.” (Isaiah 64:4) Reading the Scriptures reveals the character of who God really is. It is how He directly communicates with those who are His and for those who are looking for Him. By reading God’s Word, it helps us make the correct choices for our lives. You need to realize that God is so infinite to our way of understanding. It’s like taking the ocean and pouring it in to a glass. His direction can sometimes be the exact opposite of how we “feel” we should go. That is where our faith comes into play also. God knows us better than we know ourselves; and like any good parent He may say no in one area so that we may grow or move in another. “As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.  Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:19-20)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I invite you to listen and hear God’s voice when He reaches out to you. Don’t harden your hearts and turn away from Him-rather open yourself up to Him and be willing to hear what He has to say to you personally. He love us enough to Bless us as well as chastise us. Please do not miss any opportunity or direction God may have for you.
