Hello. How are you? Can you believe that it is August?  All I can say is “WOW!” You know what that means, don’t you? Christmas is only four months away! (Please don’t yell at me!)  Anyway, life is moving on and it’s moving fast. I personally view this year as a year of change. Interestingly, I notice a lot of “endings”  this year. Hopefully. 2015 will be filled with new beginnings in the best sense for all of us.

I kept “hearing” the above scripture this week, so, that’s why I chose it. It also provokes my thinking as to what God expects from us I believe it comes down to accountability and responsibility for whatever God has given to us. In other words, we need to be good stewards of our possessions and even look after the people who are in our lives.  That may very well include, mothers, fathers, children, siblings, coworkers, bosses, church members, etc… What’s my point? My point is this-have you ever noticed how some people only seem to care when others are watching? Or, “When the cat’s away, the mice will play”?  Do you notice how much more lax we become and “bend” the rules because we think no one is watching? You know…one may get to work a little later, come back from lunch later, or leave 5 minutes earlier than you’re supposed to, talk on the phone at work, etc…Sound familiar? Have you ever been guilty of any of that? Sadly, I know I have and that grieves God’s heart. It’s not what we do we we are seen that matters, it matters how we conduct ourselves when NO ONE sees. Either way, God sees all the time. He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.” (Psalm 121: 3-40) He is not “too busy” not to notice how His children conduct themselves. I think it is horrible when a non-believers doesn’t see any difference in someone who calls themselves a Christian. As believers, we are to be “set apart” because we belong to Christ…“We have been set apart as holy because Jesus Christ did what God wanted him to do by sacrificing his body once and for all.” (Hebrews 10:10) We should not conduct ourselves in ungodly ways because we think Jesus hasn’t returned yet so there’s still time to continue to act like every one else. I don’t want to be caught with my “hair down” and not be ready for Jesus’ return. I want to be ready and unashamed when He comes back. I would want Him to find me in prayer, or reading His Word, or doing something genuine in His name.

For those of us who are Born-Again believers, God has entrusted us with His name and to spread the “Good News” which is salvation through Grace through Jesus Christ. He is our mediator between God and mankind.  We have a tremendous responsibility before God since we bear His name.  It is true that our name goes before us-which means there is an association attached to our name-which in essence will reveal our character. For example, when you hear of someone’s name you may think, “he/she is compassionate, or generous, or funny.” Or you might think ,”Oh, no! Here comes trouble!” Or, “He/she is so insensitive and mean and cheap.” I know when some people hear my name, they think I’m funny; but, I am also known as someone who is “black and white with no grey” in my viewpoint. As believers, we need to be ready for Jesus’s return every moment of every day.  For God “a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years is like a day.”  But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:8-9) That kind of time is a luxury we do not have.

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, I would like to encourage you to be ready for Jesus since we do not know His arrival “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” (Matthew  24: 36-37)know that we will stand before God and we will give an account for what God has entrusted us with.  So, I would ask that you would be the best parent, child, sibling, employee, boss, teacher, student, minister, pastor, doctor, nurse, lawyer, construction worker, police officer, butcher, baker, whatever it is that God has entrusted to you in your life at this time. Redeem your time and keep watch because the Son of Man (Jesus) is coming back for His own.

“Be ready for action, and have your lamps burning. 36 Be like servants waiting to open the door at their master’s knock when he returns from a wedding. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds awake when he comes. I can guarantee this truth: He will change his clothes, make them sit down at the table, and serve them. They will be blessed if he comes in the middle of the night or toward morning and finds them awake. “Of course, you realize that if the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let him break into his house. Be ready, because the Son of Man will return when you least expect him.” Peter asked, “Lord, did you use this illustration just for us or for everyone?” The Lord asked, “Who, then, is the faithful, skilled manager that the master will put in charge of giving the other servants their share of food at the right time?  That servant will be blessed if his master finds him doing this job when he comes. I can guarantee this truth: He will put that servant in charge of all his property.  On the other hand, that servant may think that his master is taking a long time to come home. The servant may begin to beat the other servants and to eat, drink, and get drunk. His master will return at an unexpected time. Then his master will punish him severely and assign him a place with unfaithful people. “The servant who knew what his master wanted but didn’t get ready to do it will receive a hard beating.  But the servant who didn’t know what his master wanted and did things for which he deserved punishment will receive a light beating. A lot will be expected from everyone who has been given a lot. More will be demanded from everyone who has been entrusted with a lot.” (Luke 12:35-48)

“…For I am the Lord who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26)

images-1Hello. How is everyone? How are you enjoying the weather? Enjoy it now because it is supposed to be one hot, sticky, oppressive summer. (Sorry to be the bearer of bad news . 🙁

In any event, I  don’t know about you, but there has been a lot going on by me. My mother just got a good report from her doctors-we had a little scare, but, everything now ok.  There was another issue with one of my nieces, but, she is ok now; and one of my cousins had a motorcycle accident on Easter Sunday.  He seemed only injured and then went into cardiac arrest and is still in the ICU unit. It seemed like we were going to loose him twice, but, he is still holding on. Please pray for him, his name is Michael.  Why tell you all of this?  To let you know that even though the doctors are there to assist in healing, it is only because of Jehovah Rapha (The God Who Heals) and the grace of God who heard my prayers that anyone is truly healed. “Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses. He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.” (Psalm 107: 19-20)  “For I will restore health to you  and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord, Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.”  (Jeremiah 30:17)

God does not just heal the body. He heals the mind and spirits as well.  He brings peace to those who are interceding for the sick as well as to the sick ones.  God is God-He is truly the only one who can deliver anyone from any type of circumstance. “For I will restore health to you  and heal you of your wounds,’ says the Lord, Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.” (Jeremiah 30:17)  Knowing that God is Sovereign over all things brings me peace and comfort because I know that God is in control of all things-even the timing of one’s death. “And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment..” (Hebrews 9:27) God is merciful, that’s why He heals people. My cousin is not a believer in God-if anything his faith is probably very minimal and he almost died two times in the last two weeks and has spent most of the time in an induced coma. So I, (and some good friends) stood in the gap between him and God and prayed for him. Believe it or not, my prayer was not for God to heal him, it was that God would not allow him to die and slip into eternity without knowing who Jesus really is and that Jesus died for his sins. I’ve tried in the past to speak to him, but the opportunities were always interrupted-and now he is in a coma and I don’t know what he can hear or receive in his heart in this weakened condition. But God does. “And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, that whosoever shall say unto this mountain, be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive the, and ye shall have them. (Mark 11:22-24)

As for now, I am standing on the word of God and praying His promises back to God.  I had a small opportunity to speak to one of my other cousins in the hospital but, again-it got interrupted. “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. Or, what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? If ye then, being evil, know how  to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (Matthew 7:7-11) “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. (Psalm 103:2-5)

As of now, I will continue to pray for my cousin and for all those who request and/or just need prayer.  Our lives are in God’s hands anyway, why not communicate with him in prayer anyway? “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, he hearth us: And if we know that He hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 Joh 5:14-15) So what does God say we should do when we need to meet with Him in prayer” “Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:13-16)

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, I hope you come to know the Lord your healer and let Him heal you and meet you on all levels of your physical, emotional, and spiritual areas so that you know without a shadow of doubt that it is God, and God alone who saves you and heals you.

“:Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 1:20)

“But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” (2 Timothy 3:1-5 NIV)

images   Hello! How is everyone? How is your week going?  I hope your relationship with God is growing as times are getting tougher and tougher. I tell you, you can’t even turn on the news without hearing some horrible news that people are doing without any form of conscience. I’m sure you p robably have said or heard someone say  “when I was younger, people never did…or, nobody would never have thought of behaving so….”  Sin is so rampant these days-there’s no hiding it and the sad part is I’m sorry to say is that it’s only going to get worse; not because I’m being negative; not because it’s my opinion, because God has stated it in His word, the Bible.

I had a crazy week (I’m sure, like many of you) and there was such a provoking spirit working through so many people that it made me nuts! The worst part is my reaction to all the bad behavior of others. I know I am a child of God, but, unfortunately I got caught up in it all. It doesn’t seem like many people do not have boundaries towards respecting others. The scripture says I should avoid such people-instead I wind up challenging them  The problem when I do that is, I take matters into my own hands instead of turning over the situation to God. The real issue is spiritual. “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. (Ephesians 6:12-18 NIV)

 The character of people have steadily moved away from the holiness of God throughout the ages. That is why Jesus spoke of this when He was on the earth the first time. The Bible basically covers every aspect of life and all applicable situations. Some references are not literal for the times we are living in now but, principles are timeless. So even though the Bible was written two thousand years ago, God made His word , warning and applications available to all throughout the ages “Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.  You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.  For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.  But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.”  (1 Thessalonians 5:1-9)

We are also not exempt from behaving the same way as it says in 2 Timothy. For those of us who are God’s children, it’s an exhortation for us to get back on track with God prior to His second coming. For those who do not belong to Jesus, it is a loving warning to repent and get right with God prior to His return so that they do not wind up in hell.“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking,marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one will be left. (Matthew 24:35-41)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I ask that you become aware of the times we are living in and draw closer to God “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.  (James 4:7-10)

God loves you and does not rescind His promises. That why it is written:”For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” (John 3:16-17)

 

 

 

 

“To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Hello.  How is everyone? How are you progressing forward as we are now officially in March?  The beginning of spring is only days away-which of course brings a new season and a new chapter in our lives! I don’t know about you; but after this very long winter, I want to embrace a new season!   My friend, Amy and I have been praying for months (especially during this winter) that God would cause change in our lives. One thing we learned for certain is that one needs to be as specific as possible in prayer because you may pray in one direction; and God may answer it in a way that seems to come out of left field!.“In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” (Proverbs 16:9)

You may ask, “so, what are you trying to say?” The point is that there are seasons in our lives. Some may be physical (a growth of a child; relocating to a new home…) some may be emotional When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.” (1 Corinthians13:11), and many seasons are spiritual “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-Amplified) I realize that there are various reactions when a season in life comes to an end.  Sometimes we struggle to let go because even though we may not be comfortable in our season, but, we are familiar with it-thus letting go is difficult because we see the season only from our perspective and not from God’s perspective.“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”  (Jeremiah 29:11) I think the hard part for most of us is believing that God actually does have plans for us and that’s why we don’t let go of our current season.“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”  (Isaiah 43:18-19)

The way I see it, the only choice we really have is to move forward with God. “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.”  (1 Peter 1:3) God is faithful to His own; He will show us how to move with change. “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”  (Psalm 90:12) I think one of the great things in a new season, is that it gives us the opportunity to re-evaluate and re-organize our lives. “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.   And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.   Then you will live in the land I gave your ancestors; you will be my people, and I will be your God.” (Ezekiel 36:26-28) I am so grateful God gives us new seasons in our lives just as He gives us actual physical seasons as well. For instance-today was a beautiful, sunny, warm day! A day like this, gives us something to really look forward to as we gradually enter a new season. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17) “Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,  I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”  (Philippians 3:13-14)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, and as we enter Spring, try to really embrace the season God is bringing you in to. Don’t let the fear of the unknown stand in the way of what God wants to do in your lives. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.  They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.  I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.” (Lamentations 3: 22-24)

I want to leave you with some additional promises of God’s Word for you to hold on to as you enter your new season:

“A blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”  (Deuteronomy 23:5)

 “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.”  (Psalm 20:4)

 “Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.  Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,…” (1 Chronicles 16:11-12)

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”  (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.  He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.”  (James 1:17-18)

Hello! How are you? I hope your New Year is progressing forward as you continue to trust God and  learn to depend soley on Him.  I don’t think it matters where you are on your walk with God, it is always good to draw near to Him-to seek God and find out His will for your daily life because things happen in life and sometimes we don’t know where we should go next.

When life’s distractions happen, we shift our focus off of God and on to our situation(s); which means our focus goes back on to ourselves. For example-Long Island just had their 2nd nor’easter a little over 2 weeks; January 3rd and yesterday, January 21st. Talk about distracting-at least it is for me! Think about all the preparation that comes with it and then the clean up that comes after it. I admit, I could not focus on much else and it stresses me out something crazy… and I know that God is in control and no matter what He will be there for me and take care of me-so why do I stress?

When distractions occur, we get “stuck” and do not move forward with God. Have you ever played scenarios over and over in your mind? The enemy of our soul (Satan) works constantly to take as many believers in Jesus away from God as possible on a continual basis. He does not relent from this task because he does not want us to work out our salvation with God and wants to keep us a part from God eternally.  The enemy wants  us to be confused and have self doubt; and he wants us to feel he condemned. However, we do not have to give in to his lies. God gave us instruction on how to handle these things when it comes our way. “[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One) (2 Corinthians 10:5-Amplified)

Satan wants us to stay where we are so that we do not believe can come to God with any of concerns no matter how big or small. He even has his children that belong to him and he sends them to us to try to dissuade us away from with their subtle whispers of doubt. Why do we fall for the lies even for one moment? Satan is the father of lies! “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44)  Why do we fall for it?  I’ll tell you why. It’s because we do not stay in constant fellowship with God.

 Our commune with God is like every other relationship-the closeness is there because of the intimacy we create with one another. We need to be in God’s Word and in prayer for our communication with Him.  But, when we become distracted, we  lose focus and hence we become a little desensitized from the Holy Spirit (which lives inside those who accepted Jesus as LORD and Savior) and if we are not careful, we can begin to drift away. “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer. If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters, you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.” (1 Timothy 4: 1-10)

People always want the blessings of God without the responsibility that comes with this relationship.   Selfish? I think so! [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)

As you Walk Every Day With Grace, I want you to know that no matter what happens in our distractions, we can come back to God. But when we return, we need to ask forgiveness because we have walked away from Him. However, He is our refuge once we put our trust in Him and then we are safe from whatever the world tries to throw at us. Remember, the devil is a liar and he loses the battle against Jesus.

“And war broke out in heaven: Michael and his angels fought with the dragon; and the dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, nor was a place found for them in heaven any longer. So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. Therefore rejoice, O heavens, and you who dwell in them! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth and the sea! For the devil has come down to you, having great wrath, because he knows that he has a short time.” (Revelation 12:7-12)

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers” (Psalm 1:1-3)

Hello! How is everyone? I hope all is well-despite the provoking spirit that lingers in the air. I am finding that more and more people are bitter, angry, and just plain crazy.  I maintain it is because many are so needy and insecure that they truly believe life is all about them!  Oh, try telling them it isn’t all about them and see if you  can do it without an argument…”Holy smokes, Batman!” It would be impressive if you got away without a scratch.  The choice one needs to make is this “do I retaliate? Or, do I let it go?” Sadly, you might not win either way because misery loves company and will do whatever it can to make you act the same. I just went through this myself today. I thought I took the “high road” by not engaging in conversation, and instead the person hung up on me.  See what I mean?

That’s one of the reasons I chose this scripture. What will be our action? Or, will there be a reaction.  Actually, I had this scripture picked  BEFORE this happened.  Blessed is the person who does not walk  with the wicked.  Wicked means anything or anyone who is behaves ungodly-un-Christlike. The person I dealt with was acting wicked by picking a fight and then hanging up on me. They want me to react. Had I reacted, I would have then “stood” in the same way that sinners take-meaning now we are interacting pretty much the same. That person throws insults, then I throw insults and it seems like we are the same type of person.  The we eventually would “sit”with mockers.  Do you notice the progression of behavior? We walk in sinful behavior, then we stand (no longer moving towards godliness; then we sit with ungodly. That’s how easy and comfortable it can become.  Bad or ungodly behavior is very natural to mankind.

But, to the person who delights in God’s laws (ways), he/she focuses on God constantly. They meditate (think about) God  so, therefore, they are putting God and His ways in place of themselves and their ways.  When a person puts God ahead of themselves, they become spiritually fed by God. That’s why they can be “like tree planted by streams of water”  These trees are strong and healthy and flourish because the roots go way down deep in the soil and are constantly being watered because the soil soaks up the water-which gives the trees life; which  produces fruit.  It is the sane knowing and walking with God. When we are rooted into the Word of God (scripture), we begin to produce new life and we begin to bear fruit as well. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.Against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)  Do you see how this is the complete opposite of sinful behavior and mocking? One type of behavior is acted out in the flesh and the other is a by-product that can only come from new life through Jesus Christ. “Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus] Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil” (Romans 16:17-19)  As we delight in God, we  begin to obey His precepts-which replaces our previous behavior. PLEASE NOTE: it is not always instantaneous.  I still fail and sin, but, I know that forgiveness is only a prayer away and so it is with you.

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.

Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
