Hello! How is everyone doing this Christmas Season? I hope you survived your holiday shopping and preparation for this Christmas. I know the pressure can be unbearable, yet we somehow manage to get everything done.
As you celebrate Christmas, know that God loves you; and has presented the gift of eternal life through His Son, Jesus to you. God has a purpose and a plan for your life, so why not accept salvation through Jesus today? The Bible says “For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, and in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2). Over two thousand years ago, GOD made the announcement to the world that a Savior, His Son, was born in a manger. He could have chosen a royal palace for Jesus’ birth; but, instead God chose to identify with His creation through a humbleway of life. It is through Jesus Christ alone that we have peace with God and can have peace with mankind.
Below is the message of the birth of Jesus which is found in the Bible, the Gospel of Luke 2:1-20:
“Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
“In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.” When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds begansaying to one another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them.” (Luke 2:1-20)
God does not go back on His Word. His promises are true and forever-that’s why He put it all down in His book for us to read, apply and to hope in. Jesus is the Reason for the Season. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) “And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth.”(Philippians 2:8-10)
As you walk Every Day With Grace, it is my prayer that you have a Blessed Christmas and that you reflect on the good gifts God has given you through His love in His Son, Jesus.
In His Love,
I leave you with one of the most cherished Christmas songs proclaiming the good news of Jesus:
Hark the Herald Angels Sing (Text: Charles Wesley, 1707-1788; alt. by George Whitefield and others)
Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new born King, peace on earth, and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled!" Joyful, all ye nations rise, join the triumph of the skies; with th' angelic host proclaim, "Christ is born in Bethlehem!" Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new born King!" 2. Christ, by highest heaven adored; Christ, the everlasting Lord; late in time behold him come, offspring of a virgin's womb. Veiled in flesh the Godhead see; hail th' incarnate Deity, pleased with us in flesh to dwell, Jesus, our Emmanuel. Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new born King!" 3. Hail the heaven-born Prince of Peace! Hail the Sun of Righteousness! Light and life to all he brings, risen with healing in his wings. Mild he lays his glory by, born that we no more may die, born to raise us from the earth, born to give us second birth. Hark! the herald angels sing, "Glory to the new born King!"
