“Then Samuel said, Does the LORD take pleasure in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as He does in obedience? Certainly, obedience is better than sacrifice, paying attention is better than the fat of rams.” (1 Samuel 15:22)

Hello! How are you? I know my life is crazy busy…would you agree that yours is as well? It’s almost the end of October….time is marching on and life has a way of happening when you are in the middle of making other plans. The key is how one responds to life’s changes-especially since God is the one who is either making the changes; or allowing them to occur. “and do not turn aside from any of the words which I command you today, to the right or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. “ (Deuteronomy 28:14)

You may ask, what does she mean about that? I will tell you. First, I want you to know that God is a Sovereign Ruler. In layman’s terms, that means He is in charge and nothing sneaks passed Him without Him knowing or His say so. But, we think He has no idea about what is happening to us, or, how circumstances affect us. We get so caught up in the drama that we lose sight of WHO our God is and WHAT He can do when we are in crisis-and even when we are not in crisis. The issue is what happens next. We take our eyes off Jesus and put the focus on our own self and our situations and we “go through the motions” of our alleged faith. I say “alleged” because we are not always living true faith that can be seen by others. Oh, we may act pious or religious, but, that’s what I mean by going “through the motions”. We can react mechanically because of the knowledge we possess, but the heart may have grown cold and turned from God during this time. “Now therefore amend your ways and your deeds and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will change His mind about the misfortune which He has pronounced against you,“ (Jeremiah 26:13)

Make no mistake…God sees and hears everything; and He sees what is actually within our own heart (disbelief, selfishness, religion, etc…) He will reveal to us what is in our heart because He is merciful and loves us and He will give us the opportunity to confess our sins to Him and repent (turn from) them so as to restore our relationship with Him. “However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says “LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?” So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.” (Romans 10:16-17)

God does not want our sacrifice of our time and money to “a cause” or, a church;, or a charity just because it seems like the right or good thing to do. It’s easy to write a check or to participate in something once, twice, or even monthly. But who are you doing it for? God? Or, self? God wants our heart attitude to be submissive to Him and His Word. He wants us to obey His will and applyit  to our own lives what the Bible says. He does’nt want us to be mindless robots without a soul or a brain, He just wants what is best for us as any loving Father (or mother) would want for their children.  We need to change our minds and focus on Him completely. We need to get our mind soley off of ourselves when all we have to offer this world is nothing but selfish ambition.  “We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.“ (2 Corinthians 10:15).

God, through His Son, Jesus, understands the struggle we endure because He endured every form of struggle and temptation straight to the Cross at Calvery.  To paraphrase one of Michael Card’s verses “it was His love that kept Him hanging on the cross.”  God gave us a way to live and those that are His to behave like Him.  What I mean by “His” are those Born Again Believers that received Jesus Christ, the Messiah into their hearts and follow after Him. These are ones He calls His children. [Live] as children of obedience [to God]; do not conform yourselves to the evil desires [that governed you] in your former ignorance [when you did not know the requirements of the Gospel] But as the One Who called you is holy, you yourselves also be holy in all your conduct and manner of living.For it is written, You shall be holy, for I am holy. “ (1 Peter 1:14-16)

Our lives should emulate God’s Holiness. We will struggle. We will fall down on our face (sometimes in shame or fear) and the enemy of our souls will continually whisper discouragement in your ears, but, we can continue on because the Spirit of Jesus lives inside of us and His mercies are new every day!. Therefore, my dear ones, as you have always obeyed [my suggestions], so now, not only [with the enthusiasm you would show] in my presence but much more because I am absent, work out (cultivate, carry out to the goal, and fully complete) your own salvation with reverence and awe and trembling (self-distrust, with serious caution, tenderness of conscience, watchfulness against temptation, timidly shrinking from whatever might offend God and discredit the name of Christ).” (Phillippians 2:12-Amplified)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, know that struggles are guarenteed in this life, but indiffernce and religion are spiritual killers because we lose focus of God.  A small cost of obedience to God is worth so much more than all the wealth in this world. He owns everything and everything is His-so what does He really need? I think this song by Keith Green sums it up perfectly.  The song is convicting and liberating.  I hope you really think about the words and then take a good look at your life and the commitment you say have with God.

In His Love,

TO OBEY IS BETTER THAN SACRIFICE-by Keith Green

To obey is better than sacrifice

I don’t need your money, I want your life
And I hear you say that I’m coming back soon
But you act like I’ll never return

Well you speak of grace and my love so sweet
How you thrive on milk but reject my meat
And I can’t help weeping at how it will be
If you keep on ignoring my words
Well you pray to prosper and succeed
But your flesh is something I just can’t feed

To obey is better than sacrifice
I want more than Sundays and Wednesday nights
‘Cause if you can’t come to me everyday
Then don’t bother coming at all

To obey is better than sacrifice
I want hearts of fire, not your prayers of ice
And I’m coming quickly to give back to you
According to what you have done
According to what you have done
According to what you have done

‘Now see that I, even I, am He, And there is no God besides Me; I kill and I make alive; I wound and I heal; Nor is there any who can deliver from My hand.” (Deuteronomy 32:39)

thHello. How are you? Are you enjoying the changing of the seasons. Are you getting ready for time change at the end of the month?  That’s when we lose one hour and “fall back” an hour. Anyway, I love the autumn and the change of seasons. I think it gives one an opportunity to slow down and reflect what is going on in one’s life and to see what changes occurred and what changes are needed to be implemented (if possible).

One  of the things I ponder is: why are we so resistant to heed warnings from God (and man)?  Why do we resist change? Why do we think we know better? Why must we struggle within ourselves so unnecessarily? Why are we unable to let go of our own control and trust God-even though a change could only benefit us?  Am I the only one who struggles with these questions? I don’t think so. Whether we like it or not, God is in control of our lives-as it states in the above scripture. There is only one God and other. (Right there should settle every question when people ask if God is real and if there are any other gods.) It clearly states that God is the One that kills and makes alive. He is the One who allows our wounds (physical and emotional); and He is the One who makes alive and no one can take His own from His hand. That, my friend is the Sovereignty of God. All things are ordained by Him and are through Him because He is God. Even the Eboli virus that entered the United States. He allowed that to happen. So what do we do? How do we respond when we are weak and/or scared? Do you think God even hears us?

How we should respond to God during these times?  We need to cry out to God…”O LORD my God, I cried out to You, And You healed me.” (Psalm 30:2) “Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and depart from evil. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.”  (Proverbs 3:7-8) “Have mercy on me, O LORD, for I am weak; O LORD, heal me, for my bones are troubled.” (Psalms 6:2) “My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh. (Proverbs 4:20-22)  “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; Save me, and I shall be saved, For You are my praise.”(Jeremiah 17:14 NKJV) (Jeremiah 30:17 NKJV) “For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘Because they called you an outcast saying: “This is Zion; No one seeks her.”‘ (Jeremiah 30:17)

We need to listen to God: “He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions.  (Psalms 107:20)  “If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14) “And he said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26) “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.” (Psalm 147:3)

We need obey God and take responsibility for our actions“Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.” (Hosea 6:1) “Return, you backsliding children, And I will heal your backslidings.” “Indeed we do come to You, For You are the LORD our God” (Jeremiah 3:22) Who else can we turn to?  “Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. (James 5:14-16) We need to understand that we need to faith in God in our relationship with God. The strength of our faith is our profession of who we are to God and who He is to us. “Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately. And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” (Luke 8: 47-48) “Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you.” And his servant was healed that same hour.” (Matthew 8:13)

How do we know what God says is true?  How does He respond to us? “And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14) “I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.” (Hosea 14:4) ‘Behold, I will bring it health and healing; I will heal them and reveal to them the abundance of peace and truth.” (Jeremiah 33:6) “Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” (Matthew 9:35)

How do we know Jesus understands what we go through? “But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5)  “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”  “(Healing of the lame man at the Gate Beautiful)  “Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word, “by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.” (Act 4:29-31)

There is so much more I can add to this, but, I think you get the picture. We have a Sovereign God who loves us and is in control of all things?  So why should we fret so much? As you walk Every Day With Grace, take comfort in knowing that God through Jesus has us in the palm of His hand and there is nothing that can take us from it. Know you are loved and can always have peace in Jesus whatever circumstance you come across. He is our peace. He is our Healer. He is our God and He is the Lover of our souls.

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12)

image005Hello! How are you? I hope all is going well. Today is September 11, 2014. It has been 13 years since the horrific attack on the United States. I’m sure no American anywhere expected this to happen on our soil. Mostly because we are supposed to be the most powerful nation in the world and had “security” in being an American. Sadly, I also believe that as Americans we can be very arrogant in our citizenship which is why we were so taken aback (to say the least) at what happened. Now there had been smaller attempts against us in the (recent) past, but nothing in comparison to that day. Think about that…people immigrate from all over the world to still come here. We have so much alleged freedom and opportunity that people are constantly coming in illegally to get what our country has to offer. We are experiencing legal issues regarding this area of immigration right now. That could be another topic for another day.

 I do believe that God has shown the United States much mercy before, during and after 09/11. People actually started going back into the churches and temples looking for God in all of this tragedy. People may have thought this was the beginning of an apocalypse. Who knows? Most likely everyone undoubtedly thought it was just going to be another average, ordinary day- just going to their jobs. Who would have thought the unimaginable? Who knew that was the last day many families would never see their loved ones? Who knew that was the day they were going to literally meet their maker? Who would have thought? Why would they? America did not have any cause for this type of attack. For many on that day, that was the Day of the Lord for them.

image001 2 The great day of the Lord is near—near and coming quickly. The cry on the day of the Lord is bitter; the Mighty Warrior shouts his battle cry. That day will be a day of wrath—a day of distress and anguish, a day of trouble and ruin, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and blackness, a day of trumpet and battle cry against the fortified cities and against the corner towers. (Zephaniah 1:14-16)

There is a whole generation of children who are being raised without one or both parents from that day. I just want to say to those who will always carry their sorrow, please know that God has promise for you because He is “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.” (Psalm 68:5) God does not renege on his promises, or goes back on His word because He is not a liar. “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19) The terrorists thought they brought the Americans to their knees on that day. In a way they did. But, not in the way they thought. Many were brought to their knees and turned to God in prayer. I will say that this tragedy made people do some serious soul-searching; it made take a long, hard look of their lives and lifestyles. Maybe for the first time, people realized that they were not just doing things “their way”, they were actually sinning against God. That’s why there was such an urgency to go back to church. People realized that their lives could end at any given moment and they weren’t sure how where they would they for their afterlife? How can they be guaranteed heaven? Worse yet, what if they wound up in hell? What was their answer? Where do they go? Who has the answer? More importantly, WHO is the Answer? Some people turned back to God, and some found Him for the very first time; and they called Him by name…Jesus. “The name above all names.” “Emmanuel-God with us”.  (Philippians 2:9-11) “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

For those who have always known Jesus; for those who came to know Him because of this tragedy; and for those who want to know Jesus, need to know that there is an assurance that God will always take care of His own. “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (Roman 8:image001-131-34) Nothing can take us from His hand and nothing can His love away from us.Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written:“For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, know that God is here for you know now. But you also need to know that as His people, we need to be ready and prepared for when Jesus returns because we do not know when He will return. Many people may perhaps have thought Jesus was returning on 09/11 even though it started out as just a regular day.  We need to keep watch because Jesus will return to this world and His Word is true.  My advice is to continue to live for Him, but keep watch for His return. “For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:37-39)image003

“Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey, when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake. Therefore stay awake—for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Stay awake.” (Mark 13:133 ESV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:28-29)

images-2Hello! How are you? How is the beginning of your September going? In spite of all the “hustle and bustle”, everyone who has kids should be back to school and getting back to business as usual. I know a few people who “milk”every second of their summertime, but their kids don’t necessarily acclimate to a routine right away. This could be very stressful for everyone involved-parents, kids, teachers, bus drivers, etc… Who would have thought there would be stress while trying to achieve rest? Unrest does not only effect the body, but, it also effects the soul.

For those who are truly seeking God, the first requirement is to come to God, come to Jesus. People always think they have to get “cleaned up” first or make themselves right before coming to God, but nothing can be further from God’s truth! God says “come”. He didn’t say “Come when you are no longer a sinner”; or, when you think you are good enough for Him…He says to “come now” because YOU ARE a sinner. “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; here is no one who does good, not even one.” (Romans 3:10-12) God does not discriminate as to who can obtain salvation and eternal life. His love and mercy is extended to anyone and everyone. And, to ensure that there is a bridge between Himself and mankind, He sent His Son to die on a cross to shed His blood for whomsoever would receive God through His Son, Jesus.“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whomsoever would believe on Him would not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (Joh 3:16-17) “On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Mark 2:17)

God accepts us as we are. He does not ask us to change before coming into His presence. Truthfully, it is after we come that He begins to change us and gradually (yet continually) conform us to the image of His Son, Jesus. But, that transformation begins after we repent (turn from) our sins. First, we come; then we repent; and then begins our transformation into the image of God’s Son, Jesus. God sees and cares the burdens and struggles we carry. He sees our anxiety and restlessness-it actually hurts Him to see us live like that. The problem with living like this must create a tremendous amount of pressure and tension.  That’s why He wants to give us rest. He wants to carry our burdens, but that could only happen when we release them and give them to Him. “Casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.“(1Peter 5:7) When we give Him our burdens, we are surrendering our lives over to Him; we are putting our trust in God and acknowledging that HE KNOWS better how to love us, care for us, and how to teach us how to go through our struggles so we can apply His ways into our lives.

I also want to add that being weary and burdened is not a one time thing. Can you relate to that? I know many times when I “feel” strong or rested, I take my struggles back and carry them again until they wear me down, All the while God is saying “No! No! No! Come to me when you are weary and burdened and I will give your rest.” He doesn’t want me to be so weary that I am being pulled down and looking down and not looking up and keeping my eyes on Him. The enemy of our soul will do whatever he can so that we will not focus on God, trust God or love God.  The reality is this-God is a loving Father who sees everything we do and everything we go through. “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.” (Genesis 16:13)

Please know that most people are walking around carrying the weight of the world on their shoulders. We are living in stressful times as a society, as a nation; and God is being pushed out of the way more and more because of an Anti-Christ spirit that is very real and very prevalent on this planet. That’s the bad news I’m sorry to say, but it is the truth. The good news is “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.” (1 Joh 4:1-4)  “If God is for us, who can stand against us?” (Romans 3:3)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I want to encourage you that there is God who loves you, cares for you, and will carry your burdens for you if you just come to Him willingly as He extends Himself with open arms to you and an invitation to be yoked into His salvation for all eternity. “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” (Revelation 3:20)

“And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.” (Romans 13:11-12)

images-1Hello! How are you? It’ s Labor Day weekend! How crazy is that? Time is flying by. Even though time seems to be moving quickly, it also appears as other things in our lives are standing still-making it appear that we are sleeping or wasting our time on frivolous matters when we know better.

As one grows with the LORD, one should always continue in the application of His principles and apply it to their life. That is where commitment and discipline come into play. Unfortunately, people confuse “good intentions” with commitment. I wrote myself a Proverb years ago that says “Good intentions do not always bring about good results.” What do I mean? I mean, “what good are intentions without actions?” Now, there are some who are “well-intentioned” meaning they wanted to do something nice or good for another but never quite got around to it. I think that’s why the saying “well, it the thought that counts” is used with this type of implication.

In any event, with each passing day we are getting closer and closer to Jesus’ return. For those who do believe, our salvation is here and it draws closer and closer to eternity with God. For those who do not believe yet, but are inquiring and thinking they still “have time” really need to re-think what they are searching and hoping for. Some peopled have the attitude that they can always repent and call on the name of Jesus “tomorrow”; or keep doing everything they want to do because they believe they can repent once they are old or had their fun. But, scripture says “Today is the day of salvation.  “For God says,“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.” Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2)

We are not promised tomorrow and we do not know when we will be meeting our Savior. For those who are His, He will welcome you with open arms and enter into your rest. God the Father will see His Son, Jesus when He sees you. For those who are NOT His-first you will bow before Him and acknowledge Him as King of Kings and LORD of LORDS; and then He will say “depart from Me, I never knew you! “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)  “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you?  When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire(M) prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’ He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me. Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.” (Matthew 25:34-46)

Can you imagine that? Eternal separation from God. There is no second chance on the other side of the grave-no matter what religion may say. That is a lie. Redemption is only on this side of the grave. Only on this side will one get chance after chance to repent from sin up until your last breath.; after that, you will be face to face with God …who will either be your Advocate or your Judge. “Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him. 10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.” (2 Corinthians 5: 9-10)

As you walk Every Day with Grace, my encouragement to you is for you to realize that salvation is here and now and that we are to walk in the precious gift of our Salvation . This means we are to come out of our slumber of complacency and daily live according to God’s word and embrace our new life in Jesus.

In His Love,

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name.” (Hebrews 13:15)

imagesHello! How are you? How has your week been?  It’s been a long, crazy, tiring week for me. Can anyone else relate to that? The “funny” thing about life is “when it rains, it pour”. (pardon the cliche) So, what is my point? This is my point…even though life gets tough and exhausting, one should not forget to bring praise to God. “Now therefore, our God, we thank you, and praise your glorious name.”               (1 Chronicles 29:13)

What do I mean by that? How can I praise God when I seem to be so consumed with what’s going on in my trial? When one is going    through a trial, their eyes and thoughts are about themselves as well as how their current situation is effecting them. They just look for ways to carry their burden without bringing God into their situation. Many of people are strong in themselves…but, that strength in self  eventually wears thin which is why people become so worn out. It is only through our relationship with God that gives us strength to continue on.“The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare Him a habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.” (Exodus 15:2)

I think we offer God a sacrifice of praise because naturally, we like to praise ourselves (and sometimes someone else). A sacrifice is an offering that we bring to God. In the Old Testament God required specific sacrifices for various reasons and occasions. God, in His own right is a King. That’s why Jesus is called the KING of KINGS, it is due to His Majestic being and because of that we praise Him. “And my tongue shall speak of your righteousness and of your praise all the day long.” (Psalms 35:28) “IT IS A GOOD THING TO GIVE THANKS UNTO THE LORD, AND TO SING PRAISES UNTO THY NAME, O MOST HIGH” (Psalm 92:1)

God desires our praise in music as well. That’s why we sing to Him in church. We worship Him in praise and song and He loves it. “Hear, O you kings; give ear, O you princes; I, even I, will sing to the LORD; I will sing praise to the LORD God of Israel.” (Judges 5:3) “I will praise you with my whole heart: before the gods will I sing praise to you.” (Psalms 138:1 ) “Then will I go to the altar of God, to God my exceeding joy: yes, on the harp will I praise you, O God my God.” (Psalms 43:4) Our praises to God should be an expression of our love for Him and filled with thankfulness for all that He has done for us. We should thank Him just because of His sovereignty and for who He is as our God, our Father, and as our Husband. “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful to him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4) “He is your praise, and he is your God, that has done for you these great and terrible things, which your eyes have seen.” (Deuteronomy 10:21)

It is obviously easier to praise God when you have a relationship with Him. “Therefore I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to your name.”  (2 Samuel 22:50)  “I will give you thanks in the great congregation: I will praise you among much people.” (Psalms 35:18) “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light” (1 Peter 2:9)

We should always remember to praise God in all of our trials because nothing is by happenstance. It is because of God’s loving, merciful nature that we should praise Him. He is everything to us. He is our Salvation. He is our Healer. He is Wisdom. He is Redeemer. “Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for you are my praise.” (Jeremiah 17:14) “I thank you, and praise you, O you God of my fathers, who have given me wisdom and might, and have made known to me now what we desired of you: for you have now made known to us the king’s matter.” (Daniel 2:23) “And at the end of the days I Nebuchadnezzar lifted up my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me, and I blessed the most High, and I praised and honored him that lives for ever, whose dominion is an everlasting dominion, and his kingdom is from generation to generation” (Daniel 4:34) He is our all and all and though we may not “feel” like praising Him, it is our responsibility to offer  Him our sacrifice of praise. I’m not saying it is always easy for us to do, but it our duty as believers to give to God what is rightfully due Him for all that He does for us because He loves us. “I will sing of mercy and judgment: to you, O LORD, will I sing.” (Psalm 101:1) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3)

As you walk Every Day With Grace, I encourage you to bring your sacrifice of praise to God. Praise Him because you love him, praise Him for His love for you, or just praise Him because you know your life would actually be empty without Him and because of Him, your life can be filled with joy.

We Bring The Sacrifice Of Praise: Writer/Composer : Kirk Dearman

We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.
We bring the sacrifice of praise
Unto the house of the Lord.

And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of thanksgiving;
And we offer up to You
The sacrifices of joy.

“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” (John 11:25-26)

Hello! How are you? How are things?  I, myself have gone through a recent trial these last two weeks and I am so grateful that I had and felt  the grace of God.  Frankly, I do not know how people go through the tough times without having the assurance of their relationship in Jesus. I would assume by now everyone has heard of the news of the death of Robin Williams.  He was a comedic genius with improv and timing. The news of his death was sad. If he didn’t know Jesus when he died, then his death is even more tragic because now he will be eternally separated from God.

This may be a morbid topic, but we will all die eventually. A family member  of mine almost died last week, but it was not his time and God spared him. The Bible says “Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.” (Hebrews 9:27) When one knows Jesus, they will die a physical death (absent from the body is to be present with the Lord”) but, they will have eternal life because the spirit will live 0n-which means the person does not truly die. You see, we are made up of spirit, soul and body. The body is our “physical shell”; our mind, will and emotions are our soul; and then our spirit. In the beginning God breathed His Spirit into His creation-which was Adam; thus giving him life. We all come from Adam and Eve. They are our “original parents” who are brought sin into the world-which is why there is a physical death.  (In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread till you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19)  People walk around thinking that they should just take care of their bodies only and that will prolong their life. Obviously, we should do everything we can to maintain our health and live a healthy lifestyle; and I have heard so many people say “my body is a temple like the Bible says it is”. But, they are mis-quoting the scripture and say that as a way to idolize their body.  The Bible says that our body is the temple of the HOLY SPIRIT. “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

The real issue about life/death (or, eternal life/eternal death) is whether one believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and will therefore never die.  Do you believe this to be true? Can you accept that there is eternal life, but only through Jesus “Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) Many people think their philosophy will save them Or, their religion will save them; or, their morality will save them-you know the “golden rule”…”do unto others as you would want done to you…” But, the fact is this…none of this will save you and guarantee you a spot in heaven. One’s morality will not get you salvation. However, morality is a by-product of  one’s salvation.  You may not accept this information, but, do you believe it is true? Understand that God see everything and “we have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) God is a Holy God and He will not have anything sinful in His presence. That is why only Jesus offers us forgiveness of our sins and makes us “white as snow” as He mediates on our behalf. The only way to achieve this is to believe this. I’m not talking about visualization, or perception or anything that is self-serving. Belief is an act of faith because there really is nothing for us to do except believe what God says is true.

This trials I went through made me think (again) that time is short and life as we know it is precious. My concern with my family member is that they refuse to submit themselves to Jesus.  Salvation is a gift; so therefore, it is something we cannot bargain with or obtain on our own. Jesus said “I am the Way, the truth and light. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Do you believe this? The decision is an easy one and yours to make. We are not promised tomorrow which is why “Today is the day of salvation.”  For he says, In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you. I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) Salvations starts with a choice to believe and then the action to accept-which awakes your spiritual nature (remember we are spirit, soul and body).

As you walk Every Day With Grace,  I ask that you choose life-eternal life and believe. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever would believe on Him would not perish, but have ever-lasting life.” (John 3:16)

I Surrender All | Judson W. Van DeVenter

 All to Jesus I surrender;
All to Him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust Him,
In His presence daily live.

Refrain:
I surrender all,
I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Humbly at His feet I bow,
Worldly pleasures all forsaken;
Take me, Jesus, take me now.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Make me, Savior, wholly Thine;
Let me feel the Holy Spirit,
Truly know that Thou art mine.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Lord, I give myself to Thee;
Fill me with Thy love and power;
Let Thy blessing fall on me.

All to Jesus I surrender;
Now I feel the sacred flame.
Oh, the joy of full salvation!
Glory, glory, to His Name!
