“He must increase, but I must decrease.” (John 3:30)

daily-image-112012

Hello. How are you? I hope all is well with your soul(s). I’m sorry that I have been MIA- (missing in action), but life happens and we all respond to it in our own way.

Anyway…the point is that as a believer, our focus should continually be on Jesus Christ especially since He is the author and finisher of our faith. fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:2).  When we take our eyes off God, we keep them on ourselves.  What does that normally mean? It means we start making plans for ourselves regardless of God’s plan or will for us. How many times have we made plans and couldn’t get out of our own way?  Isn’t that ironic? Truly our vision is extremely limited when it is focused solely on self.

Jesus must increase in our daily lives which means HE becomes the true focus of our existence and the only way that can happen is if we die to ourselves. So, what does that mean? That means that we need to seek the LORD for His Will for our lives and surrender what thoughts, ideas, or plans we had for ourselves. “For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,’ declares the Lord.” (Jeremiah 29:11-13) Believers should want to decrease in order for Jesus to increase-that should exist in our inner most being and hearts. It’s when we surrender to God, we can objectively begin to see our inadequaticies before God. We are unable to serve God and walk in the holiness we are called to do when we do not allow God to increase in our lives.

This is when our faith has to be put in action. Please know this can be a struggle, but our faith is about Jesus and not us. “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? (Romans 6:1-2)  We are sinners, but Jesus Christ is sinless. We were separated from God by sin, but Jesus Christ bridged the gap between God and man. We could not atone for our sin, but Jesus Christ paid the price in full when he died on the cross.

God’s word is true and that is what we must solely stand on. When we put our focus on Christ instead of on ourselves, our whole perspective changes. By ourselves, we are slaves of sin… but in Christ, we have victory over sin. By ourselves, we are children of wrath bound for destruction… but in Christ, we have the hope of eternal life. By ourselves, we are separated from God by sin… but in Christ, we can come boldly before the presence of God, being cleansed of all sin not by our own works but by his holiness.

I know I want Jesus to increase in my life and for me to decrease. “I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.” (Galatians 2:20).  If I ask God to help me decrease, I know He will give me the grace to do so. However, I must obey Him just as much as I ask Him to help me. The time is growing short and I know I want my life to reflect more of Jesus so I can please Him and be a witness to others.  “Jesus says “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Our faith must be centered on Jesus Christ alone. Apart from him, we can do nothing.”

As you Walk Every Day with Grace and you know Jesus, join with me and allow Jesus to increase in our lives as we daily decrease in ourselves and our own ambitions. It’s like what my friend Amy says, “There are good things and there are Godly things”. Let’s always strive to increase Jesus in our lives so, that our lives and choices reflect more of Him and less of us.

In His Love,

Melody

“Ho! Every one who thirsts, come to the waters; and you who have no money come, buy and eat. Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and delight yourself in abundance. Incline your ear and come to Me. Listen, that you may live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, according to the faithful mercies shown to David. (Isaiah 55:1-3)

IMG_0482 Hello! How is everyone? Just when we thought we were free and clear from the snowstorms, boom… another one is hitting the Northeast tomorrow night (Sunday)! Seriously, we are all done with this weather! Spring is (3) weeks away-and it cant come soon enough!  As you already know with the rising temperature everything is so expensive and it seems that the colder it gets, prices like food and gas & oil haves gone up in a very short amount of time.

It seems like there is a price for everything and certainly there is no such thing as a free lunch.  However, the only thing that does not cost money is God’s invitation for eternal life. That’s why I choose the above scripture. The invitation to come is not really meant for temporal things. God’s invitation has eternal value. He invites those without money to come and accept something so precious that He does not put a price on it, but, gives it away freely to those who will accept it. “As for me, I shall call upon God, And the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon, I will complain and murmur, And He will hear my voice. He will redeem my soul in peace from the battle which is against me, For they are many who strive with me. God will hear and answer them—Even the one who sits enthroned from of old— Selah. With whom there is no change, And who do not fear God.” (Psalm 55:17-19)  Can you understand that the only act of participation we are to have is to trust God because there nothing we can physically, emotionally, or monetarily do?  One cannot earn or buy their eternal life. See how God extends His continual invitation to us? “Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him, and to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” (Isaiah 55:6-7) “As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:12)

Isn’t God so amazing? He doesn’t care what we look like, what we wear, what drive, how much is or is not in bank accounts-all He cares about is sharing eternity with us, but the only way to do it is if we accept His invitation to salvation. Why would we want to pass this up when God is the only who loves us unconditionally? “Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. TheLord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel…” (Psalm 103:1-8) “Cast your burden upon the Lord and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.” (Psalm 55:22)

God has a plan for your life! Where you are does not matter, what matters is whether or not you satisfy that longing in your spirit that says ” I believe there is a God, but, why would He want me when I have nothing to give Him?” For those who may feel that way, this what God has to say to you…For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return there without watering the earth and making it bear and sprout, and furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;  It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. For you will go out with joy And be led forth with peace; The mountains and the hills will break forth into shouts of joy before you, And all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of the thorn bush the cypress will come up, and instead of the nettle the myrtle will come up, and it will be a memorial to the Lord, for an everlasting sign which will not be cut off.” (Isaiah 55:8-13)

Please know “for all have sinned  and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished— he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.” (Romans 3:23-26)

As you walk Every Day With Grace know that if you are hungering in your spirit, soul, and body for God, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.” (Matthew 5:6) “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time.” (1Peter 5;6)
